How does someone like Jamie Moulthrop get the idea that he should run for office?
I mean, he might be a nice guy and all, but if his resume was any thinner it would go from transparent to invisible.
A “Tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt” means that he takes people’s w-2s and enters them into a software program.
His educational accomplishments include an Associate degree in communications from Harrisburg (Pa.) Area Community College and a semester or two at Penn State University. Hello?
This is just the kind of Republican who depends on party ideology who grows up to be a despicable Tom Delay or a loathsome Charlie Copeland.
Has anyone seen the mailing that he sent out? We heard from callers on Sunday that the mailing he sent out was “terrible,” so I’m wondering what was in it.

Your supporting arguments may be a slippery slope complaint. You’ll end up grabbing more people in that than I think you intend. Plus, it just tells many people that they have no right to ever run for office.
I think anyone should be able to run for office. You can’t have a resume until you’ve actually served, right?
I’m also told that Mr. M didn’t bother to register to vote until two years ago. Now that’s the sort of citizenship I look for in an elected official.
I wouldn’t have the nerve to run with that resume. That is my point.
Typical attack on a person’s occupation and education I’ve come to expect from you. Are you now setting standards? I’d love for you to roll out every Democratic elected official’s background in those two areas.
And this from the local Dems that just gave us a GED Gov? Are you kidding me?
He’s running for a local office and it seems to me he’s fully qualified and deserves credit for entering the arena.
Voters will decide if they find his platform, demeanor, background, etc to be what they are looking for.
I learned a long time ago that a person’s life experiences are of lot more value than one’s educational background. Look at where all these MBA’s got us.

He sounds like the kind of down to earth person we should welcome on the council.

Any work is honorable. Any education is to the better. To ridicule both is asinine.

I am sure we have quite a few high school drop outs in the legislature. I know we have farmers. So what is wrong with a Associates in communication? We have an IC with an associates degree in fashion – so hey — why not? Obviously people elect you no matter what.
Anybody can run – no matter what their background. Doesn’t mean that I believe their education makes them suitable for the job, but I’d rather take a person without a Bachelors or Masters degree that has street smarts, then some idiot that only knows the theory of things and not the reality.
I won’t judge him for running until I see if he is competent or incompetent.
If Moulthrop is elected, his education level will exceed that of many of the current Council members.

I’m a Democrat but Jason, this post was a little unfair… I don’t think you’re serving the purpose with this kind of stuff.
Leave the guy alone and let him run for whatever office he wants to run for. He’s getting picked on because he’s a Republican, and he’s hardly the first one with scant education.
Ruth Ann Minner was the trailblazer. She had a GED and look where it got her. KWS got elected. The uneducated are all over the place in politics because they can’t get hired in the private sector for the money they think they deserve. Better than flipping burgers at McDonalds or working at Lowe’s. All it takes to get elected is enough money, a certain disregard for the truth, decent presence, and a good spokesperson/organizer. Voters couldn’t care less about the issues or what the candidate will or won’t do once in office.

It is impossible to imagine Feroce describing a Democrat with the same lackluster credentials as a “I feel your pain- kind of guy”.

I tired of the argument, “Yeah, but he did it first.” We should be better than that.
The guy’s CV is weak, fine. I wouldn’t vote for a Rep or Dem with this resume but that’s for the voters to decide. Washington was a farmer turned militia vigilante who married into a wealthy family… he did OK.
Well take Feroce out of it then. Do you think this guy has a resume that says, “I should be in elected office.” ?
I don’t. If you do, we have an honest difference of opinion and you should be better than attacking me for expressing my opinion.

Look I have no beef with the guy. I said it was for voters to decide. But on the CV alone it is no contest. That’s a fact not an opinion.
And we have many local colleges. Wesley, Goldey Beacom, Wilmington, Widener, Del Tech, Del State, U of D… that’s “several” yes

I won’t dispute that one. That’s a nice item, sure. But top to bottom it is no contest ‘on paper’. But the election will tell.

There are some people working inside the Scouts to change the policies. Google “Scouting For All.” I don’t know if that’s this guy’s case – kinda doubt it – but don’t condemn everyone.
