    Because money can be made off of the ills and misfortune of others. That is why not.

    That, and a captive audience allows inflated prices.

    We tax beer, wine and other things that are good for us. Why not a tax on cola beverage?

    Might help health care by (1) deterring people from junking up, (2) creating cash stream to fund health care initiatives.
