Philadelphia Flyers win just to tease fans a little more — it’s a Philly thing.

Wilmington Trusts turns a first quarter profit making everyone who lives in Yorklyn, Rockland and Montchanin very happy, while New Castle County faces tough times and still the Yorklyn-Rockland-Montchanin crowd remain happy.

And, finally, Paul Krugman writes:

We are, or at least we used to be, a nation of moral ideals. In the past, our government has sometimes done an imperfect job of upholding those ideals. But never before have our leaders so utterly betrayed everything our nation stands for. “This government does not torture people,” declared former President Bush, but it did, and all the world knows it.

And the only way we can regain our moral compass, not just for the sake of our position in the world, but for the sake of our own national conscience, is to investigate how that happened, and, if necessary, to prosecute those responsible.

For possibly the only time this year I agree with Paul Krugman.

A deal on budget reconciliation for a health care bill? Supposedly there’s already 51 votes on a health care reform bill.

Also, the MN Supreme Court won’t take up Coleman’s appeal until June 1. Will Franken get a certificate of election before then?

  3. nemski says:

June 1st — six months without a Senator. The RNC must be so proud.

  4. nemski says:

The BBC is reporting that the Pentagon is about to release “‘hundreds’ of photographs showing the alleged abuse of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
I’m proud that we are releasing them, I’m ashamed we ever did it.

  5. Unstable Isotope says:

I’m with you nemski, hooray for openness!

I just read on Twitter that Tedisco conceded in NY-20 and there’s one more new Democratic representative today. Coleman could learn something from Tedisco.

June 1st is when they start hearing arguments. Who knows how long the decision will take.

  6. cassandra_m says:

    TPM documents the concession.

So this was supposed to be the test of Beyond Cutting Edge Steele. And it was supposed to be a referendum on the Obama policies.

What’s going to be the spin on both of these?

  7. Unstable Isotope says:

I’m sure the GOP spin is nevermind, we never said nothing about it being a referendum on Obama.

  8. jason330 says:

Fast Forward to the Republican Convention.

“President Barry gave aid and comfort to our enemies by letting them know that they were right about us being a bunch of lying bastards. Also…TAX CUTS!!”

  9. Unstable Isotope says:

Wow! Terrible poll numbers from Arlen Specter for the Republican PA Senate primary:

    Toomey 51%
    Specter 30%

  10. jason330 says:

    “Wow” is right.

This should give pause to the )otherwise smart) commenters around here who think people like Specter and Castle have some sort of magical fairy dust.

Hey, check the Friday news dump; this should be interesting. This is happening in the Siemens offices in Malvern:

WASHINGTON, April 22 (Reuters) – Pentagon investigators searched the Pennsylvania offices of a unit of Germany’s Siemens AG (SIEGn.DE) on Wednesday as part of an investigation of a Siemens contract with the U.S. military, a company spokesman said.

…The company won a Pentagon contract valued at up to $267 million on April 1 for radiology systems and components to be used by all the military services and other federal civilian agencies.

Bradley declined comment on whether the search was in any way related to the recent contract award.
