Just thinking about the RFP players

Filed in National by on June 6, 2009

You know, a few weeks ago we here at Del Lib were like dogs sniffing a shitty diaper.  We found or someone led us to find the bogus bullshit that is part of the standard RFP process that the sleazy, slimey, brainless POS that is our own Insurance Commish tries to pass of a BAU and thinks that no one will find out about. Accountability sucks.  Trying to defend yourself  and your actions against something so bogus makes you look even worse.  Which is exactly what her office bitches did.

The Ins Com job is dare I say one of the most underrated offices in our state.  It is for sure one of the least understood positions.  I have no idea what she does.  I have no idea how what she does affects me.  I do know that the Ins Com in Delaware is a pretty fucking important office.  Especially when it comes to corporations.  I would think that having someone in that position with an IQ that is higher than the combined weight of her (insert whatever comes to your imagination) is an important qualification that our voters should take into consideration. I would also think that the people in her office would expect to be questioned occosiaonally and be able to act more professional no matter who questions what they are doing.  But, I guess some little dickwad lawyer didn’t like having to answer to some little pissant blogger.  Wahhhhh.

What has been bugging me about the whole deal though was a few of the comments the weaselly little fucks that are KWS’s neighbors and butt boys made because they think  that they are above being questioned by common folk and that we as bloggers are comparable to “the nra” and other similar groups that are strong advocates for their beliefs.  That we “carry water” for other people.  I don’t mind be looked down on.  I have had that for the better part of my life.

What irked me about being cmpared to the NRA and other groups like those was that it was buy a guy that works for US, me, a citizen, a tax payer, a voter and technically a constituent.  Bloggers aren’t some group of nutjubs (well, ok, fair enough if you visit FSP, collusoffucknut or anyone of David Andersons blogs he links to).  Bloggers care and they are a group of people that unlike the rest of population actually give a shit.  Beliefs aside I don’t care what side you are on, I am just glad that WE (except David A and Frank K) are out there holding people accountable.

People in the office of KWS should expect more accountability.  We maybe the annoying flashlight that shines into your house at 9pm at night, but the more light we shine the better for us all.

The only water we are carrying is that of citizens that want shit done right and above board.  If you don’t like, go fuck yourself or quit.  Or both.

I wonder if the bogus, wired POS RFP is going to be affected by this new centralized RFP system Markell is putting it?

I also wonder who was awarded the bogus POS RFP.

  2. I wonder why we haven’t found out who won the bid. Do we not have the right to know?

Elliot Jacobsen will stop by with some lame Jedi Mind tricks.

  4. They’re gambling that the MSM will ignore their shenanigans. So far, they’re winning.

‘Bulo predicts their winning streak won’t last. What you’ve got here is a rogue crew running a state agency. It will eventually catch up with them, even if it’s the bloggers who ultimately bring them down.

One of the things that was remarkable to me was the sheer unprofessionalism of the entire business. They wouldn’t answer questions and only wanted to deflect everything by saying that they were not spending taxpayer funds. Hubris. Perhaps the procurement world that I have to live with is just more ordered, but what I saw in that one RFP really doesn’t give me much hope that anyone is going to make the process of spending taxpayer funds any more disciplined. If the RFP that we saw can get through the system in spite of obvious and multiple problems with it, it seems to me that there is simply no procurement watchdogs looking to make sure that dollars are spent well, much less in accordance with the kind of restraint Markell has asked for.

They may indeed be on a winning streak, but, frankly, I’d bet alot that there are plenty of other agencies getting away with just this same thing.

  6. Ok, why are you picking on Frank and I in a post that is about the insurance commissioner. Tell me Frank hasn’t challenged the powers that be including his own party. http://www.delawarepolitics.net/where-was-the-leadership/

You may be in complete disagreement with our priorities but you can’t disparage our motivation.

  7. I could show you the same with mine. Quite frankly since you guys run things nationally and locally, I am not really worried about my side. You guys are doing all of the damage. http://stoptaxing.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/sad-but-i-was-right/

  8. because you are idiots.

The Bidens are both great campaigners but that seems to be the limit of their skill set.

Has Baby Biden been an outstanding AG or is he just biden his time until he runs for the senate?

No. Because DE law only requires RFPs for construction and material goods. No RFP is required for professional services. The General Assembly needs to close the loophole.

I wonder why we haven’t found out who won the bid. Do we not have the right to know?

There is also a weird quirk in the law that actually requires public notice of award for small contracts but not for large contracts.

Markell needs not only a new RFP system but new procurement law. Paging John Kowalko…

Amazing that after less than five months in office, the rogue crew who actually runs the IC’s office for KWS since she doesn’t know how has already figured out all the loopholes that allow them to award lucrative personal service contracts to political cronies. Since they haven’t done much else since they started, that must be what’s kept them busy for the past few months.

all the loopholes that allow them to award lucrative personal service contracts to political cronies.

It will take a day in a law library to figure out who installed those loopholes. It is on my to-do list.
