It’s On!

Sestak makes it official:

In an interview with Pennsylvania’s Wayne Independent this morning, second-term Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Penn.) officially threw his name in the ring to take on Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.) in next year’s Democratic primary.

So despite attempts to clear the field for Specter, Sestak jumps in. Personally, I think Sestak will win. Early polls have definitely shown vulnerability for Specter. Even if Specter squeaks by, a primary challenge will help move Specter to the left.

  1. ‘Bulo also thinks that Sestak will win…and that it won’t be close. A young, energetic campaigner with a compelling personal story vs. a turncoat Rethug being propped up by the remnants of a crumbling ‘machine’.

The Beast Who Slumbers has a hard time envisioning just how Specter CAN win a Democratic primary. Nobody thinks of him as a Democrat.

Even though Sestak may be closer to Bob Casey than Harris Wofford, he is far more dependable than Specter, who is at best a chameleon without scruples.

  2. “A chameleon without scruples!” is going to on Specter’s campaign signs.

  3. I hope you are right. I would like Specter to move more to the left. Start getting used to Senator Toomey.

Question: Is there an emoticon to represent a kind of smirky dismissive chuckle?

  5. ‘Bulo puts the early over/under for Toomey in the general at about 39%. Place yer bets.

Let’s hope Specter becomes a spectre.

One should look at the Navy record of Admiral Sestak before treating him as a latter-day Halsey or Nimitz.
