It never gets old screaming Liberal Media.

The Charleston Post and Courier has posted online (pdf) all 570 pages of emails obtained from the office of South Carolina governor Mark Sanford.

There’s a bevy of information in there, but one exchange that jumped out at us was the one between Sanford’s press secretary, Joel Sawyer (who just today announced he’s quitting — good for him!) and David Gregory, the host of NBC’s Meet the Press. In courting Sanford’s office, Gregory wrote that “coming on Meet The Press allows you to frame the conversation as you really want to.”

Great catch. That wingnuts regard the mass media as “liberal” is crowning achievement of 30 years of determined conservative propaganda.

Here is a copy of Gregory’s email to Sanford’s office. The offer to let Sanford use the show as his own personal soapbox, apparently free of challenges from the so-called journalist host, is pretty blatant and not so surprising. Even when Russert was hosting, it was apparently know that MTP was an easy go for repubs — Cheney’s office picked MTP as the place most amenable to furthering their fictions re: Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame.

  3. This scandal has been brewing for about a week. At first the sycophantic emails of the rightwing bloggers were revealed. Of course, they were no big surprises there. Then it was revealed that ABC’s Jake Tapper criticized David Gregory for being too mean. Now David Gregory is in the crosshairs.
