Run Sarah Run!

Filed in National by on December 8, 2009

The Fix has an interesting item about Sarah Palin. She’s open to the possibility of running as a 3rd party candidate.

An astute Fixista flagged a fascinating interview that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin gave to conservative talk radio host Lars Larson last Friday in which she appears to leave the door open to a third party bid for president in 2012. Asked by Larson whether she would consider running as a third party candidate, Palin said: “That depends on how things go in the next couple of years.” Larson told the 2008 vice presidential nominee that answer “sounds like a yes” to which she responded: “If the Republican party gets back to that [conservative] base, I think our party is going to be stronger and there’s not going to be a need for a third party, but I’ll play that by ear in these coming months, coming years.” Which, to the Fix’s delicate ears, sounds like Palin leaving the door wide open. As we have written before, Palin is not — and never will be — a candidate of the Republican establishment. Given that, and the unpredictability she demonstrated in her stunning decision to resign as governor over the summer, no potential avenue to the presidency should be ruled out.

Please! Oh wait, am I supposed to say I’m quivering in fear of the towering qualifications of candidate Sarah Palin? I’m pretty sure she served at least one full term as mayor of Wasilla.

That will lokely be the only way that Obama gets reelected.

I would pray to the Teenage Jesus for Obama to get elected, but if I know teenagers, they’re too busy playing Xbox 360 to worry about anything else.

As much as it pains me to say, I don’t think she’ll run. Campaigns are, like, long. And they take hard work and a lot of time. And mean people say mean things about you just because it’s the “truth”. The only way I see her running is if she does one of those “swoop in at the last minute as a 3rd party candidate” things. I can’t see her making it through a 18-24 month long campaign. It would be dang fun to watch, though.

  7. I’m with you Scott. I think she’s too lazy to run for president. She likes getting attention and making money.

  8. anon says:

She will run for something as long as the teabaggers keep sending money. A third party candidacy probably appeals to her because it is easier than facing actual GOP opponents, but it still affords the perks of living on a campaign expense account. If she gets enough support to get into televised debates, cha-ching for her next book and speaking tour.

She will run for something as long as the teabaggers keep sending money.

Which means, of course, she will have to constantly out-crazy herself to keep the money coming. And she will push the GOP field even further to the right, thwarting any Repubs who might want a return to sanity. Good news for Dems.

Cut-and-run Sarah continues to find ways to say “look at Me! look at Me!” Addict.

Apparently the Quitta from Wasilla is looking to Fidel for some political inspiration. There’s some symmetry in that, I think.

Not sure if that has been covered here but…BWHA HAHAHAHA!

  14. Inspirational, polarizing, failed VP nominee without a long resume, running before finishing 1st term as governor, said by critics not to be too bright, that will never work for a President Mr.Franklin Roosevelt.

  15. a.price says:

im not quite sure what RD is trying to say here. do you not support Palin given all those negative? or do you support Palin because in R-land all those thinhs are positives?

  16. nemski says:

Republican David’s comment is a great example of a palindumb.

  17. Geezer says:

Let’s compare FDR and Sarah Palin point by point, shall we, just to illustrate the depth of ignorance once again displayed by Delaware’s Ignorant Man, David Anderson (I think he keeps Frank Knotts around so that he has a challenge for most ignorant man in the state):

    Education:
FDR: Groton School, Harvard University, Columbia Law School (left early after passing the bar exam)
SP: Wasilla High School, five universities, graduated from University of Idaho as a communications major

    Political career:
FDR: State senator in New York (1911-13), assistant secretary of the Navy (1913-20), re-entered politics in 1929 after battling paralysis, governor of New York for 2 terms (1929-1932). Ignorant David Anderson apparently doesn’t realize that NY governors served two-year terms until 1938, so he didn’t “quit” the office to run for president.
SP: Two terms on Wasilla City Council (second cut short by mayoral victory), two terms as Mayor, part of one term as Alaska governor.

Furthermore, New York was, at the time FDR served as its governor, the most populous state in the USA. Alaska, not so much.

So yeah, absolutely, you can’t find two politicians with more in common than FDR and Sarah Palin — that is, if you’re an incompetent moron like David Anderson. Anyone else should have no problem seeing the differences.

  18. a.price says:

Maybe that is the point. Palin does have all the “education” or “experience” “finishing” what she “started”. or governing people who aren’t “white” “christians” (real americans) FDR was a bad president because he was corrupted by learning and heathens. Sarah on the other hand HAS no “smarty pants” education, and wouldn’t know a Indian from an Indian … good thing we are closing down all the boarders.

  19. Unbiased American says:

a.price — did you forget that she is married to an individual who is not white?

  20. Geezer says:

Typical conservative view of minority heritage: Todd Palin is about 1/8 Inuit, so he’s “not white.” That’s a good one.

Hey, Biased American, here’s better evidence that racism isn’t in play here: David Anderson is African-American.

  21. Unbiased American says:

Typical leftist logic — minority heritage only counts if you are a liberal. Personally, I’d argue if his heritage is sufficient to get him registered with the tribe/nation, it is good enough for me.

But if we are going for the purity angle to define race, I guess that we have to list Barack Obama as a white guy — you know, given that white mama of his that you folks try to avoid talking about.

  22. pandora says:

You are ridiculous, UA. We don’t avoid talking about Obama’s mother. What on earth are you talking about?

  23. cassandra_m says:

RWR continues to be an idiot. And leave it to white people to choose to be a minority when it suits. Certainly the Toddster wasn’t at the forefront of trying to get some of the real and massive issues Yup’ik addressed by the State of Alaska when the Quitta from Wasilla was actually in office. But if they get a casino I’d bet he’ll be first in line to collect up whatever share of the profits might be available.
