Friday’s Asshat of the Day

Filed in National by on September 3, 2010

Good morning, everyone. So far, we have plenty of nuthin’ down here in Sussex, as far as Earl is concerned. Not saying we won’t get some rain and some wind later today, but it’s not going to be the doom and gloom that everyone was predicting.

Today’s recipient is not a politician. In fact, his only connection to politics is that he lives in Washington, DC. And he plays for the Washington Nationals. Nyjer Morgan is a troubled, young man. He is representative of many professional athletes who are paid millions of dollars, yet they are, in fact, spoiled brats. This is someone who had a lot of potential, but as you can read in the article from the Washington Post, he’s been a huge disappointment.

His latest behavior should result in him being suspended for the rest of the season. Roll tape:. Now, I’ve seen brawls in baseball, but this guy is a whack-job. Beating his chest as he’s being escorted off of the field? Childish and stupid.

I went to one Nationals game this year to see my Colorado Rockies destroy the Nats (it was 10-0 after the top of the third). And Morgan, despite all of the hoopla, was a disappointment at the plate and in the field that night.

Maybe we pay these guys too much money. I get so turned-off by these types of “role models” that I cannot stand watching professional sports sometimes. That’s why I prefer to watch college sports – at least you know that they’re playing for their school and for pride, and not some big paycheck at the end of the day.

Nyjer Morgan, our Hurricane Earl Asshat of the Day.

Nyjer Morgan rates AHOTD status because he whoops some fellow millionaires.

But not Obomba who reacts to floods in Pakistans by killing poor people with drone strikes?

I ask you…. who is the real A__hat?

  2. MJ says:

You are, delacrap, you are. You’re a lefteabagger who has a hard-on for the President. My guess is that no matter what Obama does, if he repealed DADT, if he pulled all of our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, nothing would satisfy you.

  3. Geezer says:

“Obomba … reacts to floods in Pakistans by killing poor people with drone strikes”

Got anymore of whatever you’re smoking? Sounds like strong stuff, though it gives you a paranoic edge.

  4. Another Mike says:

Nyjer Morgan is a tool. But I am here to defend him somewhat.

He plowed over the Nats catcher the other night. Why is that so wrong? It is not against the rules of baseball. Even so, he was hit the next night (the third National hit by a pitch that game, by the way). He didn’t complain, just took his base. With the Nats down 14-3, Morgan then stole 2 bases and scored on a sacrifice fly when the shortstop fell down making the catch.

It is not an unwritten rule of baseball to steal when DOWN by a large margin, especially in the fourth inning. It’s not smart baseball, but it doesn’t violate that code. Are the Nats supposed to lay down and die? Why not just stop the game like in Little League?

Anyhow, Morgan was thrown at again in his next at bat. This is when he charged Chris Volstad, who has 7 inches and 100 pounds on Morgan. Morgan was clotheslined by Gaby Sanchez, who somehow was not ejected from the game. On his way off the field, Morgan brought a little WWE to the show with his arm raising and yapping. That makes him the AHOTD?

Nyjer Morgan has done some really stupid things, and I don’t know that I’d want him on my team. In fact, he’s pretty average as a ballplayer. But I’m defending the guy when defending is due.

  5. MJ says:

Mike – all you did was regurgitate the WaPo article. He is a mediocre player who has some serious mental issues. And that is coming from his teammates and other players. Sorry, your “defense” of him fails.

  6. delacrat says:

And unlike Obomba, ….Nyjer Morgan has never killed anyone.

  7. MJ says:

delacrap, you are an idiot, plain and simple.

Now, I suppose you have pictures or something that shows the President with a gun or some other weapon, and that he’s standing over a body?

You really need to get over your cheap ass self. You are starting to bore everyone.

  8. pandora says:

Ignore him, MJ. Everyone else does. 👿

  9. anon says:

Michael Corleone: My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator.
Kay Adams: Do you know how naive you sound, Michael? Presidents and senators don’t have men killed.
Michael Corleone: Oh. Who’s being naive, Kay?

  10. Its a crapgame! says:

You better start watching DemocracyNow.org, if you think anyone is helping the flood victims in Pakistan. The US is bombing the hell out of them, while they are suffering and starving! Yep, the US sure has a nice way of making friends in the muslim world.

  11. Another Mike says:

Perhaps I should be writing for the Post because I didn’t read the article.

  12. delacrat says:

    pandora on at 2:08 pm:
Ignore him, MJ. Everyone else does.

    Pandora,

Ignoring Obomba’s crimes is why they continue.

  13. anonone says:

Exactly, delacrat. Those who were first in line to criticize Bush for his atrocities now are silent about Obomba’s, even when the atrocities are the identical. It is much more fun here to talk about the trivial than face the truth of the Obomba’s dishonesty, corporatism, incompetence, and endless war.

That being said, your first comment was a bit of a hijack of MJ’s post.

  14. MJ says:

Yeah, good job on everyone’s part for staying on topic.

And for the record, OBAMA is cleaning up Bush’s mess.

A1 and delacrap – you show a complete naivete of how government works. Sorry it doesn’t live up to your lefteagging desires.

  15. Joe Cass says:

MJ,I look forward to your post and I respect you enough for having never met you. I don’t expect you to agree with me after that ass kissing but let me tell you one thing about humans: we hurt each other. Actually, we kill each other; without hesitation nor provocation, no reason, no rhyme. Its the flaw of our species. Greed, jealousy, hormones. You have a drier cave than I. You have more food than I. Your woman bears better children than mine. I must exist forever so I decimate your cities. That’s how it is. Thats how it always will be. I try to walk the path of Christ but I will rip the throats out of WBC next time they come to Delaware as we bury a soldier. As a tormented woman has made the most difficult decision to terminate then gets assaulted outside a clinic in her time of distress, I will stomp the arrogance out of anyone obstructing her. You like the sausage but you’re not willing to see it made. Welcome to the slaughterhouse.

  16. anonone says:

“Some men see things as they are and ask ‘Why?’ I dream things that never were and ask, ‘Why not?'” Robert F. Kennedy, 1968.

Those who accept that they cannot change things never will. Think about it, MJ.

  17. MJ says:

WTF are you talking about A1? More drivel. Boring (as are most of your posts).

And Joe, I see the sausage being made everyday – I work for the government. I even have a few of the recipes.

  18. MJ says:

And our AHOTD has been suspended for 15 games (7 for previous incidents and an additional 8 for his antics in the game shown above). Anger management classes should be required. Either that or he can go play ball in Japan.

  19. anonone says:

MJ, I am sorry to hear that you think Robert Kennedy’s tribute to his brother John is “more drive” and “boring.” I guess that you think that government can never be improved and those who think otherwise “show a complete naivete of how government works.”

Political pressure for change will never be exerted by those who believe that it is hopeless and naive and even wrong to try. But I am sure that regardless of what I write, you’ll carry on with your name-calling, attempts at ridicule, and your passionate defense of the status quo. Too bad.

  20. MJ says:

Sorry A1, but that is not what I wrote. I wrote the YOUR (get it, YOUR) posts are drivel and boring. You hijack threads and rarely, if ever, stay on topic without going into your lefteabagging bag of BS.

Sorry, schmuck, I’m not following you down that rabbit hole.

BTW, you did get one thing correct – you are sorry.

  21. Geezer says:

“Those who accept that they cannot change things never will.”

And those who think they can change things by acting as trolls on a liberal blog are deluding themselves. Think about it.

  22. anonone says:

Yes, Geezer and MJ. If you want to talk about boring and drivel, many of your comments are little more than name-calling and ad hominem attacks that add nothing of substance to any discussion.

Having a different opinions about something is not “trolling.” Why don’t you each try to go for a week without name-calling and profanity – I bet neither of you can do it.

  23. MJ says:

Um, A1, pointing out that you’re a lefteagger is not an ad hominem attack, it’s a fact.

Pointing out that you’re a troll on this blog is not an ad hominem attack, it’s a fact.

Perhaps for once, you can follow a thread without bringing in your dislike of the President and his policies, especially when the thread is about an out-of-control baseball player.

My guess is that you can’t do it.

BTW, if you don’t like what you read here, I’m sure Delusional David and his folks at DP would love to have you.
