Today’s Moment Of Absurdity

Filed in International by on November 23, 2010

American politics is pretty ridiculous so it’s sometimes good to know that American is not the only place with ridiculous political coverage sometimes. Italy’s Silvio Berlusconi is in trouble for altering an ancient statue with *ahem* a magnetic penis. (Hey, don’t blame me! It’s true!)

Italy’s prime minister is under attack for authorising what amounts to plastic surgery on two Roman marble statues.

The statues, which depict the naked gods Venus and Mars, are on show in Silvio Berlusconi’s Rome residence.

Mr Berlusconi ordered a replacement for the missing penis on the statue of the ancient god of war, and a missing hand for Venus.

Art experts say it is tasteless and aesthetically wrong to replace the missing body parts.

Apparently the restoration cost about $100,000 and the repairs are removable. This is the most important political story EVAR! Even more important than possible cheating by conservatives voting to keep Bristol Palin on Dancing With The Stars.
