  1. I’m flying back tomorrow. The weather forecast is intimidating.

  2. pandora says:

I’m not sure you will be flying tomorrow. Be safe.

Luckily, I cooked too much food – as usual – so we’ll snuggle in with leftovers!

Merry Christmas from Ruidoso, New Mexico. We’re traveling cross country pulling the Airstream. Just went through Area 51 and didn’t spot any liberals out there, but I’m sure I’ll be up to my ass in them in Los Angeles.

    Merry xmas everyone..
We did the cross country trip.. though we did it the army way and camped in the great outdoors.. It was worth it because we could take the Jeep all over the place and ended up camping on in Canyons and on the rim of canyons.

You have to go to Apache lake.

    Have fun.

One a political note. I got a book for xmas that is interesting.. It is about the VA medical care.. by Phillip longman. it is called “Best care anywhere”.

I am all for the single payer system, though I am a ward of the VA. One laughable report that I read is done by Blue Cross every year. The way they present the numbers on our health care system is creative. But very incomplete.

The single biggest fallacy that the anti-reform crowd likes to push is that employment= health insurance. Blue Cross tries to reinforce that with some statistic that 99% of employers larger than 100 employees offer health insurance. While they might offer it, they do not offer it to all employees.. Sure Walmart offers health insurance, to some of their employees, but not all and the cost of it puts it out of reach for a good portion.
My wife works for a private company down here at the beach. And yes they have great insurance, but it is really for the family of the owners. If the employees want it the cost is 300.00 per week, and 80% of their employees cannot afford it. But it is a great plan and covers the elderly family members every need. Even their private home nurse.

  5. Paratrooper18 says:

The other fallacy is that our single payer would=rationing. The fallacy is that we already ration care. Simply having insurance does not mean a doctor will accept it, and it is very notable down in Sussex County.

Doctors want Medicare first and foremost. They love the fact that Medicare patients love to be over treated. And Medicare is easy to game once you learn the ropes.

The VA provides insurance for my wife and daughter, but no doctors will accept assignment. Why? Because they do not have to with ChampVA and Tricare, so they don’t. Those patriotic doctors, you really have to love them.

  6. a. price says:

dont blame the doctors. They work in a de-regulated and broken system where if they do something the Cartel says not to, they could lose the ability to ever practice again.

Fret not for The Troops, nemski, nobody ever forgets them.

“Pentagon’s Christmas Present: Largest Military Budget Since World War II”

“The December 22 vote in the House was, as Associated Press accurately described it, conducted without debate or discussion ”

Even if the troop is a dog , the dog’s not forgotten, in fact, the dog’s front page news.

What’s has been forgotten are things like Single-Payer Health care. Something The Troops have, courtesy of many taxpayers who don’t.

What’s been forgotten are the people in distant lands The Troops routinely rob of their lives and limbs. (Assuming, we ever acknowledge that’s The Troops are about in the first place.)
They never make the front page of the NewsJournal.

Biden did NOT say Same Sex Marriage is ‘Inevitable’.

    What he said was:

“I think the country is evolving, and I think there is an inevitability for a national consensus on gay marriage.”

This statement is carefully parsed and does not at all predict or wish that implementation of gay marriage is inevitable – only that there will be consensus.

But we have seen consensuses come and go in the last two years alone. Some were deliberately squandered; others were openly defied.

What percentage of Americans constitutes a “consensus?”

In 2008, polls in support of a public option ranged from 59% to 76%. And 64% of Americans believed it was government’s responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care.

In 2009, 74% thought expiration of the upper income tax cuts was a good idea (CBS/NYT).

Pres. Obomba was hardly a Rose Garden recluse.

The problem with Obomba is that he’s a suck-up to power.

  11. delacrat says:

Look at the background behind Biden and realize he’s sitting across Rodney Square from the Hotel duPont…in a building owned by Bank of America.

Biden is comfortable making the case for DADT and DOMA in a B of A property, unlike ending the war and real financial reform.

DADT and DOMA will get through Congress because it does not affect Bank of America’s bottom line.
