Foggy Bottom to Woodley Park

You can fall in love with a city.
If you are young and lucky you can live in a city for a while,
and if you are young and open to it,
you can fall in love with a city.

You can like a suburb. You can feel comfortable and safe,
but you when you feel safe and comfortable in a city,
you can fall in love with it.

When you understand a city’s dangers and it’s pleasures,
and can navigate between them on familiar cement and cobbles,
you will grow up.

Of course, you can live your whole life in the suburbia of perpetual childhood.
Immature. Undeveloped. Unaware of how life is supposed to feel. Unaware of the give and take.

You can fall in love with a city.
If you are young and lucky you can live in a city for a while,
and if you are young and open to it,
you can fall in love with a city.
