Who said it? (cross posted at Democrats4Kovach)

Was the following Republican sounding gibberish spouted by “Democrat” John Carney, or Republican Tim Kovach?

For too long, leaders in Washington — from both sides of the aisle — have put the U.S. in a severe financial mess.

Carney or Kovach ?

America’s debt isn’t just an economic problem, it’s a national security problem as well. We’re leaving future generations with trillions of dollars owed to foreign governments.

Carney or Kovach ?

The people of Delaware understand that everything must be on the table. … And when I say everything must be on the table, that means that everything should be on the table: discretionary spending, entitlement programs, revenue, defense, tax reform, and other areas.

Carney of Kovach ?

I’ll put the answers in the comments section after a while. In the meantime “Who said it?” is going to be a regular feature of the Democrats4Kovach blog. “Regular” anyway, until John Carney decides to stop muddying the waters as to what it means to be a Democrat.

What is missing from Carney’s poutrage over the Super Committee failure?

“The failure of the Super Committee is very disappointing and frustrating. It further erodes any confidence that Congress can pass a meaningful fiscal plan. There was broad support from close to 150 Democratic and Republican members of the House and Senate, including myself, for the committee to ‘go big’. Since taking office, I’ve been calling for a large, balanced agreement that uses the framework of Bowles-Simpson or the Gang of Six to reach a $4 trillion deficit reduction goal.

“The debate is not over. Both parties must continue working towards an acceptable long-term deficit reduction plan that is responsible and fair. I’m hopeful that the Super Committee’s failure will prompt more members to support a comprehensive plan with responsible spending cuts and additional revenue that will put the country on a path to fiscal balance.”

John “Mike Castle v 2.0” Carney can’t bring himself to point the finger of blame where it belongs. Republicans were out to end Medicare as it currently exists while honoring the oaths that they’ve sworn to Grover Norquist.

Just got email from John Carney pimping some kind of teabag balanced budget amendment. At least it said it was from John Carney. It might have been from Rick Perry or Paul Ryan or somebody like that.

B-S and Go6 both call for a top marginal tax rate of 23-29%.

For reference, the current Bush/Obama top rate is 35%, the Clinton rate is 39% (which we would get if we “do nothing” and cuts are allowed to expire on schedule in 2012).

I know. Some crazy ass shit is issuing from Mr. Carney.
