So apparently there was another godforsaken Republican debate on last night. I was watching Betty White’s roast so I missed it. Not that I have ever watched a GOP debate live (I see the clips afterwards though, and that is painful enough). But I hear that Romney had his worst debate, was painfully evasive even for him, and that Gingrich was throwing red meat to the lions and getting a raptureous response for it. Some pundits now think the performance will boost Gingrich as we head into Saturday’s primary. Meh, whatever. Neither Romney or Gingrich can win the Presidency, so this is all for show.

REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

FLORIDA (American Research Group): Romney 42, Gingrich 25, Santorum 9, Paul 8, Perry 3

FLORIDA (PPP): Romney 41, Gingrich 26, Santorum 11, Paul 10, Perry 4, Roemer 1

SOUTH CAROLINA (New Frontier Strategy): Romney 32, Gingrich 23, Santorum 14, Paul 10, Perry 6

SOUTH CAROLINA (We Ask America): Romney 31, Gingrich 18, Paul 12, Santorum 9, Perry 6

SOUTH CAROLINA (Monmouth University): Romney 33, Gingrich 22, Santorum 14, Paul 12, Perry 6

FLORIDA (Sunshine State News Poll): Romney 46, Gingrich 20, Santorum 12, Paul 9.

GENERAL ELECTION

NATIONAL (CNN/Opinion Research): Romney d. Obama (48-47); Obama d. Paul (48-46); Obama d. Santorum (51-45); Obama d. Gingrich (52-43)

NATIONAL (Fox News): Obama d. Romney (46-45); Obama d. Santorum (50-38); Obama d. Gingrich (51-37); Obama d. Romney w/a Ron Paul 3rd party bid (42-35-14)

Regarding the Rally for the African American Historical Society, you can see some of the rally at: delawareblack.com. It aint over people…the fight has just begun.

I just saw a press release the DHS will be holding it’s dedication service for the AAHC at this church in order to be consistent with their qualifications to execute the contract.

And I’m sure you couldn’t be happier. Hurling ad hominem insults is your stock in trade, and now you’ll be free to call people racists to your heart’s content.

The Church to which I refer above was in today’s Daily Delaware. It could be fairly described as a “historically white church” We might need some lotion because there seems to be a few cases of thin skin going around today:)

The fight may rage on, but I don’t think that there will be a decision change. As I understand it, what is coming up in City Council on Thursday is going to be a Resolution. A resolution that is not a law. Meaning that the Mayor doesn’t have to pay much attention to it.

What it does do, is play a bit of politics here. So that City Councilmembers are meant to vote on whether they think that this small group of people have some entitlement to the history of Wilmington’s African Americans. It is interesting to me that these folks insist that white people can’t play a role in telling that history, while they are jockeying for money that comes from all of Wilmington’s diversity. Apparently they want some public hearings — again which have no legal force. But they do think that they can be more successful at playing to public emotion than they were in competing on the merits for this grant. And suppose that they could move the Mayor to change his decision — look at the public arguments they are using. Do you think that the local funding community — given the huge demand for their already reduced dollars — is going to want to get anywhere near this clusterf**k?

My last point here — people who are arguing that ownership of history is dependent upon the color of your skin are not people who have the habits of mind of real historians. These people are fighting last century’s battles and unconcerned about History as a professional practice or an entitlement of civilization.

Did Loretta tell you that Cassandra or is this just your opinion again. Look into your chrystal ball and see if you can tell us the outcome, or what our plans are? No Cassandra we are fighting the racism that exists today as well as the past. So happy you think its going to be resolution when in fact those decisons havent even been made yet…but do go on.

You know what, Liz? It is not real hard to get information in this City, from alot of different folks. You pick up the phone and talk to them. It isn’t NYC where you’ll never reach a decision maker. Come out of your fantasy world and try it some time.

Please do Wikipedia on Pinkberry. I edited the controversy chapter to reflect a crime for which a co-founder was arrested. Take a screenshot so we know which way this will go. No homeless person will go unrepresented. There but for degrees of circumstance go I.
