Romney Doesn’t Deserve Context
Before we get into the “I Like to fire people” statement allow me to point out that Romney is a bit of a gaffe machine. There’s the 10,000.00 bet. The “Corporations are people, my friend” comment. The don’t run for office unless you’re rich beauty of a statement. These gaffes have one thing in common; […]
What We Know
For all the “debates” the GOP has been through, I don’t feel liek I know much about the candidates. Who are these people? What are their likes and dislikes? Romney likes firing people. He dislikes being pinned down to one position on things. Santorum likes people to not have sex, except to produce squirming young’uns. […]
Michael Castle Set to Cash In On House Republican Sex Dungeon Caucus Connections as Lobbyist
About a dozen former House members who maintain D.C. offices in law firms became eligible last week to return to Capitol Hill as lobbyists.
Former House members are barred from lobbying Congress until the one-year anniversary of their departures from the legislative branch. The passing of the anniversary on Jan. 3 made almost 100 former House members, who left office following the 2010 elections, eligible to lobby their former colleagues.
The group includes ..Michael Castle (R-Del.) of DLA Piper.
Breaking: William Daley Resigning As White House Chief Of Staff
MSNBC just cut in to report that William Daley will be resigning as the White House Chief of Staff. Not sure what this means.
Monday Open Thread [1.9.12]
For the first time, the Gallup daily tracking poll shows Mitt Romney breaking through his previous ceiling of support. Romney now leads the Republican presidential field with 31%, followed by Rick Santorum at 18%, Newt Gingrich at 16%, Ron Paul at 13%, Rick Perry at 6% and Jon Huntsman at 1%. “Those of us who […]
Mitch Crane Mini-Fundraiser Results
We surpassed our goal of $500.00 raised and the DL community kicked in $540.10 toward Mitch Crane’s run to unseat KWS as the Democratic nominee for Insurance Commissioner. That’s an okay start, but getting rid of an execrable incumbent is a long slog, and being sure an execrable incumbent is replaced with a consumer minded […]
Ron Paul’s Man Crush
The difference between Saturday night’s debate and Sunday morning’s debate was quite startling, but one thing remained consistent between the two. Ron Paul will go after anyone but Mitt Romney. I have no idea why… do you? Paul can’t possibly think Mitt will pick him as VP, so what’s up with this? Also, since only […]
City of Wilmington Mayoral Cattle Call — New Year 2012 Edition
The new year sees some firming up of plans for this race, and there has been some intersting movement since the last time we did this, in the Fall. For those of you following the broader narrative, you can see the first Cattle Call from 2010.
Sunday Open Thread [1.8.12]
A new Public Policy Polling survey in South Carolina has Mitt Romney leading, but not as big of a lead as with other recent polls. Romney leads with 30%, followed by Newt Gingrich at 23%, Rick Santorum at 19%, Ron Paul at 9%, Rick Perry at 5%, Jon Huntsman at 4%, and Buddy Roemer at 1%. Now, keep in mind that South Carolina is the LAST chance for any of these horrible alternatives to Romney to pull off a win. If Romney wins South Carolina, the nomination is his.
Sunday Morning NBC GOP Debate
My prediction for this mornings debate is… I got nothing. You see, I actually believed the not-Romney candidates when they were threatening attack on the Romney. I believed it because it made sense to go after the front runner. It’s flippin’ Politics 101, for crying out loud. And if they weren’t going to follow through with all their trash-talking why did they even bother to show up? I swear, I truly expected everyone one of them to end last night’s debate conceding to Romney, because, hey, that’s what they did.
