Mini Fundraiser for Mitch Crane – Part 2

Filed in Delaware by on January 5, 2012 2 Comments

The goal is now $500.00. I’m upping my match to an undisclosed sum, since $50.00 seemed a little chintzy, and DL contributors have already kicked in way more than that.

If you want to know what prompted the mini-fundraiser “click here.

If you just want to support Mitch Crane without the backstory, click here.

Add one cent $0.01 to your donation so we can track it back to the mini-fundraiser – AND DIG DEEP – you know his opponent is getting sacks full of money from insurance companies.

Scott Who?

Filed in Delaware by on January 5, 2012 30 Comments

You all remember Scott Spencer, the guy who claimed he was running for Congress in 2010, but after all his bluster and hubbub about rockets and trains, didn’t even file for the Democratic primary? Apparently he’s now running for Mayor of Wilmington. While he passed himself off as a progressive, his true colors came out during numerous appearances on the Fatman’s show down here in Sussex, where he espoused his anti-abortion rights and anti-labor stands.

Does the United States Need the Ability to Fight 2 Ground Wars Simultaneously?

Republicans say, Yes. President Obama says, No.

Again I like the optics on this going into election season. The GOP’s candidate gets to make the case that blowing millions of dollars and throwing US soldiers into the meat grinders of foreign occupations makes us stronger. While President Obama gets to tell the truth.

When The Constitution Just Isn’t Enough

Filed in National by on January 5, 2012 2 Comments

New Hampshire Republicans are taking textual originalism to a whole new level: three lawmakers have proposed a bill that requires that all legislation find its origin not in the U.S. constitution, but an English document crafted in 1215.

Parish Does the Right Thing

Filed in Delaware by on January 5, 2012 1 Comment

We’ve all smacked around Sussex County Clerk of the Peace George Parish for his vehement opposition to both civil unions and marriage equality. But yesterday he did the correct thing and presided over the county’s first same-sex civil union. The ceremony united Milton Town Councilwoman Mary Hudson and her long-time partner Lynn Ekelund. Parish is […]

Republican Assholery Entering the National Zeitgeist

It is one thing for lefty bloggers and political nerds to be tuned into what a bunch of f*cking a-holes Republicans are, but it is another thing for that awareness to become a part of the nation’s chit chat.

Mitch Crane, the progressive Democratic candidate for Insurance Commissioner, issued a press release yesterday regarding KWS’s turning her back once again on the people of Delaware by approving the merger of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware and Highmark. “This is a bad decision for Delaware. Newt vs. Sanity

Filed in National by on January 4, 2012 1 Comment

I got this John Cole quote via digby: When you ask yourself why Newt is going on the attack, it’s really just a matter of the scorpion and the frog- that is who Newt is. His modus operandi is to just attack, attack, attack, wreak as much destruction as possible, and hope he comes out […]

Now that Rick Santorum has won the Iowa Caucus – Yes.  He really did. – let’s give his craziness some attention.  BTW, have I mentioned how much I love this Republican nightmare?
