50 Shades Of Agony

It's rare that I don't finish a book, but I just couldn't make it through the latest sensation 50 Shades of Grey. Before I get into my review of a book I didn't finish, let me tell you that I'm a sucker for a good, steamy romance.  After a day of pouring over political articles and listening to pundits I love to be swept away in romantic fantasy.  There.  That's my confession... and guilty pleasure. Moving on... I heard about the book from my mother (who hasn't read it, but had heard about the hoopla) who knew I indulged in the genre.  Out of curiosity I downloaded the book to my Kindle.   I tried to read it, and in my defense I don't expect romance novels to be great literature, but... Oh. My. God.  What I read of this book was terrible.  Poorly written, poorly edited, and with a heroine no one but Twilight fans could relate to.

Polling Report [5.23.12]

Florida moves into the Lean Romney camp, while Pennsylvania stays in the Lean Obama camp. North Carolina stays as a toss up state, despite the number of Romney ads Jason is seeing in North Carolina right now.

Tuesday Open Thread [5.22.12]

Former Philadelphia Phillie and Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling in recent years became a very public champion of conservative "small-government" politics. How ironic is it that then that when he launched a video game production company that two years ago set up shop in Rhode Island thanks to $75 million in state guaranteed loans. The least Schilling could have done then was thank the government rather bloviate about how government was evil. Well, two years later, because Schilling sucks as a businesman, his business isn't going so well, and this month Schilling's company 38 Studios missed a $1.1 million payment to the state. He's now asking for more taxpayer help. Oh, the irony.

Polling Report [5.22.12]

A new poll out of Texas keeps the state colored light red, as in Lean Romney. It shouldn't be as surprising as you think it is. Further along in this post, we will discuss Texas' future as a swing state (yes, it is coming). But not this year, as Texas will be won by Romney, no doubt about that.

In case you can't watch the video, this is President Obama responding to a reporter's question at yesterday's NATO summit about why at criticism of Mitt Romney's record at Bain Capital is relevant to the 2012 campaign. Click inside to read what he has to say.
