The Most Devastating Ad Ever Produced.

Filed in National by on July 14, 2012 58 Comments

If you are a political history junkie, then you will understand when I say that this ad will rank up there with Daisy, the Bear in the Woods, and the Willie Horton ad as the most devastating political ads. The message in this ad is so simple it is amazing. This Obama campaign is good at politics. Very good.

Delaware connected, Steve Schmidt at center of Romney tax tealeaf reading

TPM’s Brian Beutler reminds the world that Romney has turned over 20 years worth of tax info. He turned it over the the McCain campaign when being vetted for VP. So there is someone out there who knows exactly how damaging the disclosure of the Romney tax returns could be.

President Obama Admits Jason330 Was Right All Along

Filed in National by on July 13, 2012 8 Comments

You are going to hear a lot about this, so I will not belabor the fact that I was right all along when I said that the Presidency is about politics and policy in equal measure.

Nor will hear me talking about how early I diagnosed the problem, or about how much grief Obama could have saved himself (and the country) in the mid-terms if he had only listened to me.

I’m not going to mention any of that.

Friday Open Thread [7.13.12]

Filed in National by on July 13, 2012 18 Comments

I am dealing with the joys of home ownership today: getting free estimates for a new A/C system. So have at it. Here is a question though, if Romney continues imploding at the current rate, is it possible that the GOP will pick a new nominee at a brokered convention?

WHYY Sponsors Wilmington Voter Forums

Filed in Delaware by on July 13, 2012 3 Comments

WHYY will sponsor another round of voter forums designed to let Wilmington voters frame the issues that they want Mayoral candidates to address in an upcoming televised debate. This is NOT a candidate forum, but this is a place where voters can come together to provide input to the kind of questions they want Mayoral candidates to answer. They did this in 2010 in prep ration for televised debates for DE Senate and representative races. Both Pandora and I went to the one held in the city that year and we were impressed with this process and what came out of it. If you have the chance to go, I highly recommend it.

Delaware Political Weekly: July 7-13, 2012

Not really much more to discuss. Thanks to our eagle-eyed political junkies, pretty much all the developments can be found here and here. And you can find some analysis of the primary battles here.

I admit it. I’m addicted to this stuff.

There will almost certainly be some withdrawals today, as 4:30 p.m. this afternoon is the deadline for candidates to withdraw and get their filing fees back.

Romney’s Bain Train(wreck)

Filed in National by on July 13, 2012 12 Comments

Comment by Jason330 on 15 January 2012 at 6:49 pm:
Is it team Obama’s 11th dimensional vulcan chess that got the GOP to pick Romney? The way this is playing out, you have to admit that it is a possibility.

I also remember saying something about how Bain Capital sounded like a company headed by a comic book villain. Team Obama could not have concocted more terrible optics for Romney.

Sign Wars: Don Ayotte vs. Glen Urquhart (RT 1 North Lewes to Milford)

Ayotte wins on points. Font size points. He has far fewer signs, but you can read his name. Glen Urquhart tiny red font on a dark blue background are impossible to read at 55 mph. Ayotte’s fewer signs are impossible to miss.

Calling All Fashion Police: The Olympic 2012 US Uniforms

The uniforms (at least the Opening Cenremony ones) were unvieled this past Tuesday and they aren’t getting good reviews. Designed by Ralph Lauren and Made in China, these uniforms seem to be a disappointment everywhere. Think “Chariots of Fire” meets American Airlines flight attendant.
