Rose Izzo just reelected Tom Carper

Filed in National by on September 20, 2012

Overnight, Rose Izzo, the pretender to Christine O’Donnell’s teabagging throne in 2012 and recent Republican primary loser, endorsed insane bar owner and Independent candidate for the Senate, Alex Pires. When Alex first announced, I was intrigued, and then I listened to him, and he sounded like a tea partier. Others said, no no no, he is a populist, and angry populist, but a populist. Now we can see Pires’s teanuttia confirmed through the eyes and endorsement of Rose Izzo.

Here is her statement:

“I am a Republican who cares about the long-term future of Delaware more than how this election affects my party. I am endorsing Alex Pires for the office of US Senate from Delaware because this state needs to rid itself of these professional politicians once and for all. I am voting for Alex because he will be more than just a breath of fresh air in Washington- he will be a lightning rod for change. As an Independent, he shares many of the same values that I and my supporters share, such as a no nonsense approach to fiscal responsibility and to Make America strong again. I ask all of my Voters, Supporters, and Volunteers to stand with me and support Alex Pires for United States Senate.”

Same values? Same ideas? Done and done. I will be voting for Tom Carper. Even though this picture of Tom Carper disturbs me a little.

Oh well. On the bright side, this will be the first of many elections in which the Republican comes in third.

Does anyone know how long, and how badly they have to suck to lose their ballot access?

Lastly, that picture. Where can I go to un-see it?

  2. Steve Newton says:

You presume anybody cares what Rose thinks, or even knows who she is?

For jason’s rhetorical question–they can’t lose ballot access but they could lose major party status if their registration drops low enough. I think it has to drop below the 5% line for that to happen, though.

  3. cassandra m says:

The teajadis know who Rose Izzo is, since she is a member in good standing there. Whether or not they’ll pay any more attention to this than they are to Kevin Wade remains to be seen.

  4. Delaware Dem says:

In the picture, you get the sense that Chris Coons is uncomfortable.

  5. Geezer says:

Rose Izzo did this in desperate hope that someone would pay attention to her. Compared with Rose Izzo, Mike Protack is Pericles.

  6. Jason330 says:

They are making the heavy guy in the blue shirt uncomfortable.

  7. anon says:

The picture doesn’t give me an immediate good reaction, in fact my first reaction is that Pires can use it as proof of Carper’s bad health because it looks like he needs to hold onto two other guys to walk to the train.

  8. Delaware Dem says:

If that were true, anon, Carper’s arms would be on Coon’s and Carney’s shoulders, and their arms would be around his back.

No, this is the touchy feely creepy Carper leading his charges. And this right wing teabag smear about Carper’s health needs to die. The man runs 5 and 10k races nearly every week.

  9. SussexAnon says:

Does the Tea Party know Pires supports gay marriage? He paid for a full page ad in Letters from Camp Rehoboth last week. All it says is “I support gay marriage, Senator Carper does not.”

I dont think that will be brought up at the next 9:12 patriots meeting. Any mention of Pires donating to Carneys campaign will be absent as well.

  10. chlorophil says:

Yea, if Rose Izzo is supporting Pires it’s more of a F-you to the republican party than having anything actually in common with Pires.

  11. Andrew Groff says:

Not to take the spotlight off of Rose but Keith Spanarelli is also in the process of endorsing Pires. Nice huh?

  12. fightingbluehen says:

Who knows why Rose Izzo does anything. Pires is more liberal than Carper. I’m confused why people on Delaware LIBERAL aren’t supporting the more liberal candidate.

  13. jason330 says:

“Keith Spanarelli is also in the process of endorsing Pires.” All 200 of Spany’s fans are going to vote for Pires? That’s a game changer.

  14. SussexAnon says:

Span received 6k votes. 12% of the vote.

No where to go but up.

“Keith Spanarelli is also in the process of endorsing Pires.”

I’m picturing a long rambling press conference that is still going on, with reporters shuffling their feet and looking at their watches while K-span gives the history of Delaware’s congressional delegation, shows pictures of his children, and talks about baseball standings.

  16. cassandra_m says:

And don’t forget the ceremonial passing on of his KSPAN TV network.

  17. Andrew Groff says:

“Who knows why Rose Izzo does anything. Pires is more liberal than Carper. I’m confused why people on Delaware LIBERAL aren’t supporting the more liberal candidate.”

Pires is the more liberal candidate? Really? He’s just putting a another scumbag notch in his belt to go along with Lawyer, Landlord, Club Owner and Banker 1%er. Being a Politician would make that a complete set. The only reason he is running is because “Carper is the most corrupt politician in the history of Delaware”, according to him. Tom is more of a DINO, in my opinion, (and both meanings of that term apply) and he gets most of his campaign cash from Banksters, but I may be able to pose a few alternative all-time bad guys.

As for a truly liberal/progressive candidate in the US Senate race, there is ONLY ONE. The under-funded, over-qualified Green Party guy. Me.

  18. You’re probably gonna get my vote.

Only got one question: Were you to win, do you promise to help the D’s organize the Senate, i.e., not side with the Rethugs should they try to Make Mitch McConnell or any of his ilk President Pro-Tem?

We’ve asked that question of Pires and only got lawyerese.

    YES, absolutely.
