I edited this to Boldface the Democrats who had no reason to vote against this thing.

  2. cassandra_m says:

The Scarborough thing is interesting — he is mad as a hatter and the Politico guy said that it was too heavy a lift to do Gun Safety, Gay Marriage and immigration.

Wonder which of these Bloomberg thinks he can pick off?

  3. Blu Gal in DE says:

After I saw the vote yesterday, I made the decision that I was not going to donate to DCCC, DSCC or any candidates for 2014. NO, all my donations are going to go to Gabby Gifford’s PAC and Bloomberg’s PAC.

If we build up their funds by donating more than the NRA’s funds, the PACs can go after every stinking one of them.

And another thing – should we change our message? This diary on DK is an interesting argument against gun control. I like it!

  4. pandora says:

And here are their Twitter handles. You know what to do.

  5. cassandra_m says:

I haven’t contributed to DCCC or DSCC for ages. It was killing me to support people who wouldn’t support me. Mostly I’ve been giving to the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. But adding Gifford’s PAC and/or Bloomberg’s PAC is a decent idea.

  6. cassandra_m says:

And now for something completely different:

A challenge to duel — from a constituent to his state Senator in Missouri.

    (via Romenesko’s place)

  7. pandora says:

    How’s that Republican outreach going?

Speaking in favor legislation that would repeal Oklahoma’s 70-year-old law that prohibits retailers from selling good for less than 6 percent above cost, state Rep. Dennis Johnson (R), the co-majority leader of the state House of Representatives and a small business owner, said that some customers “might try to Jew me down on a price.”

Shortly after invoking the derogatory phrase, Johnson appeared to be notified by someone off camera that what he said was offensive.

“I apologize to the Jews,” Johnson said, drawing laughter from the chamber. “They’re good small businessmen as well.”

And there you have it. They really can’t help themselves.

  8. cassandra_m says:

Uh Oh — Texas teacher claims she couldn’t have fondled black student because she’s racist

This is incredible — someone needs to remind this woman that the sexual exploitation of black people has traditionally been done by this country’s racists.

  9. Rusty Dils says:

Standing up for the second amendment and the U.S. Constitution does not make you a coward, it makes you a conservative. But thinking you can ignore the constitution makes you a liberal

  10. V says:

Standing up on the bodies of 8 year olds for a special interest group.

    I applaud your bravery.

  11. Rusty Dils says:

V, I think it is hard for you guys and gals to call everyone else a coward when you hide your opinions behind a screen name so no one can call you out in real life.

  12. pandora says:

Um… Rusty Dils is a real name? No way. I thought it was a porn joke.

    ZERO followers.

    Last tweet was Nov. 8.

  14. Roland D. Lebay says:

I saw an interesting column in the May 2013 issue of Car and Driver magazine today. The column, by Kevin Drum, cites an Amherst College researcher who claims her data indicates that leaded gasoline was responsible for high crime rates in the ’60s-’80s & that removing lead from gasoline greatly contributed to the decline in violent crimes we’ve seen in the last 20 years.

Mother Jones has a much more in-depth article by the same author.

    Interesting reading!

  15. puck says:

I wonder if high lead levels could also be responsible for Reagan Democrats. After all they say it was lead utensils that brought down the Roman Empire.

  16. Dave says:

“And there you have it. They really can’t help themselves.”

Human beings are an evolving species. Unless one does not believe in evolution. So yes, they really can’t help themselves.

And with each passing generation there are fewer and fewer. Like Zeno’s Paradox though, society will never be free of them. However, they will decrease to infinitesimal numbers until they become little more than a parody.

  17. Rusty Dils says:

Roland, it actually sounds very interesting, but I don’t think I can buy into that, but I might actually read it since you say it is interesting.
