This song was supposedly written as Lou Reed observed Andy Warhol and Warhol’s denizens at the Factory.  The weird piano sound is due to the fact that paper clips were attached to the piano strings. Hey, it’s Wikipedia, the King Of Truthiness. The song is still bleeping amazing 50-plus years on:
