Delaware Prepares to Vote Against Trump – A Tea Leaf
I just spoke to the most fair-minded, nonpartisan voter I know. He is a true independent who has always voted his conscience on a candidate by candidate basis. He has never held any loyalty to any party. He said:
“I’m voting the straight Democratic ticket. We need to send a message.”
“But Trump isn’t on the ballot.”
“Oh yes he is. Every time he opens his mouth the country is worse off, and it is the Republican party holding him up. They all need to be sent a message.”
Exactly-
It is a anecdotal evidence, but I know this guy and if he is saying this – it is significant.
I’ve worked / volunteered on a bunch of election cycles and I’ve never heard someone say something like that… until this year, and I heard a bunch. We’ll see if translates to the polls!

Polls open in half an hour and I’ll be on my way to the amazing “Blackbird Social Club”, a polling place from 50 years in the past and a bit of a relic from “old Delaware”. Per Republicans breaking stride and voting against their party, it takes someone who is politically aware and who is paying attention, a rarity for both parties in this day and age. And it takes a monster like Trump.
I can walk to my polling place now (Crossroads Presb Church). Nice that it is walkable, but I’m not thrilled with it being a church.
Mine’s 2 blocks walk. Heavy turn out at 07:10 for Highlands Elementary. Three or four dozen. Saw Mike Castle. Left him alone. He’s a frail old dude.
