The Christiana Mall Shooter That Wasn’t

Where were you when you heard? I got a phone call from my son at 9:11pm He asked if Mom was okay.

“Yeah, she is right here, why?”

“She mentioned that she was going to the mall and I couldn’t get her, so I was nervous with the shooter.”

“What shooter?”

What shooter, indeed. There was apparently a fight and a loud bang. That’s all it took. After that, one billion ttweets and texts were launched the “news” that there was a shooter in the mall took off and it spread like Orson Welles’ “news” of the Martian invasion.

With so many guns in circulation, we have passed through the point where we think there might be a mass shooting in Delaware to thinking that there must be a mass shooting in Delaware at some point.

So why not now? Why not a fight that starts at the mall and gets out of hand? Why not on Christmas?

    It’s reasonable to expect one at this point, all the pieces are in place and we’re not immune. Actually surprised we’ve been slaughter free thus far.
