Joe Biden is Running

Filed in National by on February 22, 2019

You may remain in suspense if you want, but Biden is running. I’m calling it. Furthermore, he is going to be the next President of the United States, in all likelihood.

Check my math:

1) Whoever the Dems nominate is going to beat Trump. No Democrat is going to make the mistake Hillary Clinton did and just fucking ignore the entire upper midwest. It ain’t happening. And Trump is just really unpopular. In fact, his only legitimate path to a second term requires the Dems to nominate Hillary Clinton.

2) Joe Biden can beat the highly fractured Dem field without making a bunch of enemies. That second part is important because Democrats, like the country in general, are looking for unity. Joe can ride above the fray and even shine his charm spotlight on other candidates whenever he feels like it.

3) There is no number three. It is really that simple. If someone wonders WHY Joe wants to run for President, just look at items 1 & 2. The math checks out.

I’ve met Biden a couple time, I like him personally. He seems like a real human. Probably no my ideal candidate but anyone who can beat the carnival barker abomination will get my fully support.

You and your headlines. Don’t scare me like that. I like to think that his common sense will prevail.

He can serve best playing offense against Trump in 2020. If he’s the nominee he’ll be forced to play defense pretty much constantly, and if we’ve learned anything in his past two runs it’s that he reacts poorly to crises on the ground.

    I’m out.

  4. Delaware Dem says:

First, you underestimate Trump and the power of incumbency, especially if the economy is not falling into recession in 2020. His unpopularity makes it a toss up but unpopular presidents have been reelected before (see 2004).

Second, Hillary is not running. Seems like I have to write that often to remind the far left and the far right that they cannot base their paths to victory on having her as an opponent.

Third, I am not at all convinced Biden is going to run, given the story out yesterday that I wrote about concerning his worries about Trump attacking his family. I think Biden wants to run but Hunter, Ashley and Jill are against it. Hence the tortured delay.

First, I have $1.00 that says he runs.

Second, I was the only guy who didn’t underestimate Trump last time, so I stand on my track record as far as Trump as a candidate is concerned. My nightmare scenrio electoral college map was the final electoral college map.

Third, there is no third. It is in the bag.

  5. SussexWatcher says:

He’s not going to run, and it’s got nothing to do with family wanting/not wanting him to. It’s all about Hunter, his his Achilles heel. Shady business, the drugs, plus weird affair with his brother’s widow? No, Joe’s too much of a good guy grandpa to expose the kids to the shitstorm blowback from that.

Biden’s Nepotism and Hypocrisy in Ukraine – Canada Free Press
……..Vice President Biden routinely complained about “backsliding” over Ukraine’s fight against corruption, while at the same time, his son, Hunter, with no background in the gas industry, earned a huge salary as a consultant to gas mogul Mykola Zlochevsky’s Burisma Holdings, which is mired in allegations of corruption. This example of nepotism is, as reported in The Washington Post, a problem for U.S. soft power as Hunter Biden’s appointment “looks nepotistic at best, nefarious at worst.” Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer said the lack of due diligence in the Vice President’s office was surprising as Hunter Biden’s employment by Burisma “undercut that message of anti-corruption.”

Prior to Burisma, Hunter Biden teamed up with his Yale roommate, Devon Archer to create Rosemont Capital and Rosemont Seneca*. Their first forays were in China, including in a nuclear company under FBI investigation. But the good times did not last, as Archer was charged in May 2016 with “conspiracy to commit securities fraud” against Native Americans.

I agree. I think he wants to run and has the energy to run. I don’t think his personal and family situation is a problem. I think his hesitation is simply seeing a path to victory. He is basically the front runner at this point, so he sees no advantage to making himself the target so early. Plus, we all know that front runners often fade down the stretch. I think he is just allowing the field to sort itself a bit and if one of the 20 manages to become the popular candidate, he can gracefully let the idea fade and offer his support to whomever it is. There is nothing to gain from a declaration at this point, because it won’t anyone else to drop out since they all consider themselves the savior.

In my opinion, I think Klobuchar will be one of the stronger competitors, but there are others. Biden is probably biding his time before taking the final plunge.

Gave the eulogy at Strom Thurmond funeral.

    But again… This is fine

    • jason330 says:

You are (possibly) talking about our future candidate. Be careful.

Or better, still, make your case for your candidate.

      • Dave says:

Democrats do tend to play who is the better Democrat by highlighting their foibles rather than their policies. Republicans are crappy at oppo research, but since the Democrats do it for them, they can afford to be crappy.

I’m not a fan of several Democrat candidates, but it’s their policies I have issues with. They all seem like half way decent people to me and considering they are humans, that’s about the best I can hope for. The only fully decent creatures are dogs (which by the way, Trump does not have).

    • RE Vanella says:

My preferred candidate was arrested protesting housing discrimination in 1963.

Biden was a segregationist over a decade later.

Call me a Russian stooge & ban me. Because if the new rule is any critique of a politician’s past public positions is somehow harmful or in bad taste or forebidden, I’m breaking it the rule.

This piece of shit Biden has held significant political power for decades. I’m bloody fucking well going to be talking about what he’s done with it.
