Delaware is Solidly Blue, So Why is Coons Running as Republican-Lite?

Filed in National by on March 26, 2019

Coons has built a brand ID in the Senate as the GOP’s favorite Democrat. That makes no sense when you look at the state that he was elected to represent.

538.com’s “Partisan Lean” is the average difference between how a state voted and how the country voted overall.  Delaware is 13% more Democratic than the country as a whole.   I honestly don’t understand what Coons is going for whoth his Republican-lite brand building.

You could ask the same question of Beto O’Rourke. Not in the Senate campaign. As an elected Rep. His district is progressive a.k.a. ‘solid blue’.

How much is the Beto clan worth? What’s Senator Coons’ economic station?

    Probably a total coincidence.

Show me an election that proves an elected who puts left leaning issues first is what Delaware wants? It’s like you all have never seen a statewide poll. I agree with you all that the time for progressive policies is coming, but it’s not here just yet. Until it is you’re not going to see an out an out progressive agenda from people who need to get elected statewide.

Re Coons, there is this in my in box from Demand Justice.

We just launched our first Demand Justice Report Card, an annual report that will grade Senate Democrats based on their voting record on Trump’s judicial nominees — and Delaware Senator Chris Coons received a ‘D+’ grade.

As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Coons should be leading the charge among Senate Democrats in opposition of Trump’s extremist nominees. Instead, he voted to advance Trump’s judicial nominees 64% of the time. These are not ordinary times, and these are not ordinary nominees — and Senate Democrats can no longer be complicit in the confirmation of Trump’s judges.
