Biden’s Staff Reportedly ‘Freaking Out’ Over His Performance

Olivia Nuzzi of New York magazine talked to a source close to the Biden campaign who told her Biden’s staff is “freaking out” over his poor performance. From her Twitter thread:

The source said that internally, field staff says the campaign-organized debate watch parties in early voting states have been “awkward” and that Biden isn’t playing well to those who attended. According to Biden’s staff, he isn’t listening to his debate prep and he’s “set in his ways,” the source close to the campaign tells me.

Perhaps more concerning are some of the tweets she received in response, like this one from “Special K”:

He lost me tonight. He’s fresh outta chances. He needs to get over his pride and come correct. I no longer believe he can do it. I’m a middle-aged Irish Catholic Delaware native BlueHen – if he’s losing me he’s losing bad. … I didn’t just want him to run bc I figured he was “safest” to win – I honestly thought he is what the country needs right now – calming, familiar, steady hand. Instead I’m seeing a defensive, prideful, stubborn man convinced he’s right about everything. Disappointing.

    Jason’s fave Joe Scarborough’s assessment:

“I have to say the frontrunner, Joe Biden — man, he was off his game,” Scarborough said. “I must say, won’t make friends here, it was one of the more disturbing debate performances I have seen since Ronald Reagan’s first debate in 1984.”

“It was one of those moments where you’re going, my god, is he going to complete his sentence?” Scarborough added. “There were times he said he was going to give us three points — he gave us one and a half, and then did something that Joe Biden has never done, he gave back his time. ‘My time is up.’ No, Joe Biden doesn’t do that. Joe Biden runs through stop signs.”

Oh great, another Hillary campaign. Mailing it in because there’s no way the other guy can win. Fucking wonderful

Campaign staff already pissing all over the candidate? This should end well.

Might be one of those Trump situations, where aides go to the press to get a message to a boss who isn’t listening in private.

      • And/or they see that the campaign is cratering and they want to make sure that they don’t get blamed for it. After all, there’s always the next job, and the campaign season is young.

How does an unattributed quote help with that?

Chickens came home to snooz. He is too old and washed up. No fight or mind left.
    Hang it up JOE.
