Song of the Day 2/26: The Lovin’ Spoonful, “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on February 26, 2020

Well, you have to make up your mind now. Are you going to get on board with Bernie, or are you going to play the punditry game and wring your hands over socialism?

This was one of several hits the Lovin’ Spoonful had during their heyday from 1965 to 1967, reaching No. 2 in 1966. Though the tune was on the group’s debut album, it wasn’t released as a single until after reaching the the title track of their second album, “Daydream,” also hit No. 2, part of a string of seven straight Top 10 singles that ended the next year with “Nashville Cats.”

I saw John Sebastian play solo in the old UD student center off of Academy Street circa 1977. He was sweet and goofy and damn talented. Always a fave.

Thanks, Alby! Your Song of the Day posts most always bring back some old memories. Other days, it’s like WHAT? Never Heard that one!

I try to mix ’em up. It’s getting hard to find old tunes that haven’t been recycled by the movies or TV commercials.
