EPA Hid Cancer Risks From Delaware Communities.  The EPA knew about the risks from a chemical at the Croda plant three years ago, but didn’t bother to tell the residents. This is the most blatant sort of environmental racism, and Delaware has to put a stop to it.  Stop putting plants that pollute in Southbridge, along the Rt. 9 corridor, near Minquadale, and strictly enforce environmental laws when companies cavalierly contaminate:

The designation was “probably carcinogenic to humans” in 2014, when Delaware’s then-Gov. Jack Markell welcomed plans to allow for the manufacture of the chemical at Atlas Point.

At the time, Croda International Plc. called its plan for Delaware a “significant” and nationally groundbreaking investment. It also would reduce Croda’s reliance on hazardous petrochemical-based supplies of ethylene oxide, the company said then.

The ‘Delaware Way’ has always included a trade-off of killing minorities who live near industrial sites in exchange for ‘jobsjobsjobs’.  This must end.

Trump To House Rethugs: “No Money For You”:

In fact, the DCCC’s 42 most-vulnerable front-line members have an average 5-to-1 cash advantage over their GOP opponents. Additionally, 30 Democratic challengers outraised their Republican foes in the second quarter of 2020, putting the party in a prime position to grow their ranks in the House.

Who is holding up the loot? Jared Kushner. He’s in charge of everything.

Covid Testing Delays Render Tests Almost Useless.  Gee, you’d think that Trump would do something to address this. You would be wrong. Here’s why our test results take so long. It’s a supply-chain problem.

You Want Proof That NYPD Cops Are Out Of Control? We’ve Got Your Proof Right Here.  Does anybody, anybody, think that a similar release of police discipline records right here in Delaware wouldn’t reveal a similar pattern? Didn’t think so.  Cops who commit violent acts invariably commit multiple violent acts.  So what has Delaware done? Put an ex-cop (Franklin Cooke) in charge of a panel on police reform.  Speaker Pete has designed this exercise to fail in order to protect his cop buddies.

Inside ‘Bortac’, The Storm Troopers Who Trump Has Sent To Portland. Iraq. Afghanistan. Portland. Which one of these is not like the other? Their track record is…lethal:

Tomsheck investigated numerous cases of what he concluded to be inappropriate use of lethal force resulting in needless death during his time at CBP internal affairs from 2006 to 2014. “Time and time again I saw incidents unfold where people – always Latinos, almost always Mexican citizens – lost their lives at the hands of border patrol agents.”

A must-read.

Verily, The endlessly naive mass media is very stuck on “this time is different. this time he’s gone too far”

It has been a reliable opinion page entry since he first rode the golden escalator.

I doubt we’ll ever see “this time is the same as every other time. this time is a real outrage but we’ll all forget about it in a minute”

Reading the article about Bortac was an eye opener, Trump has essentially declared war on us and is getting away with it. As ever the media fails to do their job and fails to wake the hell up, same goes for the assorted clowns we call congress. As noted a real investigation of Delaware police would yield similar results to the NYPD mob, Swartzkpf is a real plague in this state. No retired cops posing as Dems ever again.

Quote from Tom Cotton to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: “As the Founding Fathers said, it was the necessary evil upon which the union was built, but the union was built in a way, as Lincoln said, to put slavery on the course to its ultimate extinction.”

Tom Cotton after the comment blew up: “This is the definition of fake news. I said that ‘the Founders viewed slavery as a necessary evil.’ ”

He also said “as,” making the meaning, “this is my opinion, and I am appealing to the authority of the Founders as justification for it.”

This is all in reference to a bill Cotton has introduced that would withhold federal money from any school district that used the New York Times’ 1619 Project materials in its curriculum. This bill has no chance of passing the House, and might not even get a majority in the current Senate; it’s strictly a branding exercise in advance of his 2024 presidential bid.

Can this be momentum for an Inspector General for Delaware as DelCOG has been promoting?

I had hoped that when I read the EPA-CRODA article link it would have been updated enough to have included where we are with DNREC right now.

Baker mentioned its July 16th CRODA meeting. i was on that Webex meeting and thought I was the sole participant because the site indicated that I was the only attendee. DNREC relayed the rules of the meeting and then let the CRODA rep. give his talk. No public comment was allowed. Written comments were deadlined at least 4 days prior to the meeting. But the NCC Council had passed a Resolution and no details were raised but a few that were twrong in the company reps’ response – nothing prompted by the state agency staff.

Then, the actual CRODA Public Hearing was held on the 21st and again, I was apparently the sole attendee. Mind you, DNREC had ruled that NO PUBLIC TESTIMONY would be allowed AT THIS PUBLIC HEARING. WTF?

The hearing officer Lisa Vest did not even bring up any of the submitted questions for the record. Nor did she indicate that the items in the Resolution were put into the record. In this case, as with all such hearings, a transcript was being generated. BUT that held no public input at all. CRAZY. I was incensed. So I started making calls.

Came to find that the DNREC Public Hearing for the Refinery air permit a week prior was held in the exact same manner. No public testimony allowed! No public comment raised on behalf of the public written submissions were put on the transcript record. THIS IS ILLEGAL, right? Bill Dunn did some calling too and determined that the issue with the hearing process would fall to the AG FOIA staffer.

Meanwhile, Widener Environmental Law attorney, Ken Kristl had been equally angry about the Refinery hearing and had started to investigate the law and came up with two areas being violated. One was in the state’s administrative code and the other was right in paragraph 5 of the Governor’s state of emergency declaration where no public hearing shall be held that was no interactive. I also heard that plenty of people were on these meeting and hearings and all saw an indication that they were the sole attendees.

    FFS. FFS. FFS.

Ken has submitted a complaint with the FOIA staffer in the Attorney General’s office.

It was a surreal experience and it was illegal to hold public hearings in this manner.

We know the DE Way will try its best to fuck us over and dismiss these complaints. Don’t allow it.
