Who is behind the shady New Jersey SUPER PAC set up to help ONLY Bruce Ennis and Maggie Jones?

Filed in National by on August 29, 2020

This shady PAC has a benign name “Building Stronger Communities” but information about the PAC is thin. The PAC’s web page only reveals the PAC’s New Jersey address, and that they support Maggie JonesF and Bruce Ennis (and only Maggie Jones and Bruce Ennis).

Beyond that I couldn’t find much. It is listed as a “Super PAC” on Open secrets (see below). But there isn’t any information about the PAC’s operations, other than the fact that a guy named “Keith Furlong” is associated with it.

SUPER PACS:

Technically known as independent expenditure-only committees, super PACs may raise unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions, associations and individuals, then spend unlimited sums to overtly advocate for or against political candidates. Unlike traditional PACs, super PACs are prohibited from donating money directly to political candidates, and their spending must not be coordinated with that of the candidates they benefit. Super PACs are required to report their donors to the Federal Election Commission on a monthly or semiannual basis – the super PAC’s choice – in off-years, and monthly in the year of an election.I can’t find anything about it on

Keith Furlong…. Keith Furlong…. How do I know that name?

You had no problem when these same groups paid the freight for flipping SD 4.

    • Alby says:

So what? When they support someone more progressive they’re good guys. When they support troglodytes they’re bad guys.

What part of that don’t you understand?

  3. C says:

Don’t play dumb. You know this is Laborer’s Union money. The same money that won back SD4 with massive investments in 2018 and now is supporting Maggie. Don’t act like the money is mysterious. Everyone knows where it is coming from.

    • Alby says:

If everyone knew where it was coming from, these people would talk to the media, which they don’t.

Don’t play dumb yourself. Most people have no idea where it’s coming from.

I suspect the guess is reasonable based on the roots of a certain guy and the location of the PAC.
But it could just as easily be somebody else with North Jersey being such a fertile place for political mischief:)

  4. Back in the day, Brian McGlinchey had not, one, not two, but THREE Laborers’ money checkbooks. Dennis E. Williams was elected with Laborers’ $$’s from all three–why–b/c then-incumbent Bob Valihura had beaten Brian’s brother in a previous race. Not to mention, Dennis E’s ‘volunteers’ were almost all Laborers, no doubt volunteering on their days off.

This Furlong guy is a lobbyist for New Jersey gaming interests. A seriously-connected lobbyist:

Jason, her name’s Maggie Jones, not Maggie Smith.

You’re right, this PAC is shady AF.

    • jason330 says:

Yup. Even a merely shady operation would have some boilerplate on their website about how they are “building stronger communities” but these guys don’t event put in that much effort.

      Shady AF.
