1.  My youngest daughter introduced me to this artist. There are so many artists we need now, including those we’ve featured here.  But we might just need Tobe Nwigwe the most. Especially this year:

Nice list. I believe there’s more music here that I didn’t know about than usual, but a lot of good stuff, imo. In the Top 10, I particularly liked the Naia Izumi. I have some exploring to do.

I fooled around with my own Top 10 list, with albums by Avalanches, Bonny Light Horsemen, Cut Worms, Bob Dylan, the Killers, Mapache, Rose City Band, the Strokes, Thundercat, Wild Nothing (EP).

  2. It’s weird, I generally don’t have time/interest for albums any more.

I considered ‘I Contain Multitudes’ from the Dylan album. But I got such an ‘OK, Boomer’ vibe from the line about the Rolling Stones, and I couldn’t overlook the fact that Walt Whitman created the phrase ‘I contain multitudes’ that I ultimately opted against including it.

Also gotta admit, I really respect what Fiona Apple did with her album, but I have no desire to listen to those songs any more.

It’s funny how groupthink works. I think that’s what happed with Fiona Apple and the critics. They were supposed to like it so they pretended they did, maybe even to themselves.

I want to like Phoebe Bridgers but I’m not getting it. I’ll keep listening to her though until maybe one day something will grab me.

    • I hear ya. Something about her grabbed me right away. Heard ‘Smoke Signals’, and I was hooked. Might’ve been that David Lynch vibe. A tip: Pay special attention to her lyrics.

But there are artists, Adrienne Lenker comes to mind, who I feel I SHOULD like, but just don’t click for me.

That’s why this is not a ‘Best-Of’ list, it’s really just a list of my faves.
