Delawareans elect a lot of corporate tools who pretend to be Democrats, but of all the corporate tools, Sen. Chris Coons has become the corporate tooliest. In today’s more progressive Democratic Party, he stands out as a national embarrassment.
See if you can follow this pathetic excuse for logic Coons trotted out in a speech last week Center for Strategic and International Studies. He was “explaining” why he is against waiving patent rights on Covid vaccines to benefit the Third World:
“January 6th was a moment that was challenging, divisive, difficult for all of us here in Congress, and it was a wake-up call that our country is badly divided. All of this is a wake-up call for us that we need to have another Sputnik-like moment of reinvestment in American innovation and competitiveness. A central part of being successful in this competition is continuing with our constitutionally created protected-property right of a patent, something I’ve long believed in.”
What the actual fuck? The GOP you claim is full of very fine people tries to overthrow the government, and to you it’s a sign we have to protect patent rights no matter how many people die in poor nations? I knew you were a sniveling coward — you proved that back in the Gordon years, when instead of standing up to what you knew was wrong you hid under the bed like a frightened child — but I didn’t realize your fealty to your corporate paymasters would so easily overcome your oft-stated but seldom-demonstrated ethics.
Clearly I’m not the only one who feels this way. A group of protesters under the banner Justice Is Global showed up at his house yesterday and staged a die-in. If they really want to scare him into action, I suggest that in the future they all show up in Tom Gordon masks.
