Won’t someone think of the children?!?!?

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – The Delaware Republican Party is pushing back against Governor Carney’s newest mask requirement in schools, as school districts across the state prepare for the new mandate.

The governor announced an indoor mask mandate for K-12 students in public and private schools, and daycares on Tuesday.

WRDE reached out to three different school districts on Wednesday, and two were unavailable for comment. Indian River School District told WRDE the district is busy preparing for this new requirement and working on other back to school issues.

The Cape Henlopen School District is waiting for the state to release additional details on the newest requirement. Superintendent Bob Fulton told WRDE in a statement, “We will be finalizing the details of our plan for the upcoming year over the next week or so and that plan will be presented at our upcoming Board of Education meeting on August 19.”

Chair of the Delaware Republican Party Jane Brady is calling the governor’s decision misguided and too quick.

“It doesn’t take into account the impact masks have had on the emotional and physical health of our kids,” said Brady.

By October they will be protesting going back to Zoom school because of Covid outbreaks in schools and hospitalizations of children and staff.

  2. Greg DeSantis says:

It should only take two weeks to flatten the curve if everyone would isolate themselves.

  3. Alby says:

And what are the effects on the “emotional and physical health of our kids,” Jane, you shit-brained pile of pus? Can you produce one scrap of scientifically verified evidence? No? Then fuck off,

  4. bamboozer says:

Ah yes! More Free-Dumb from the Republicans and an appeal to ignorance. Rather sad excuse for an issue, especially when kids start getting sick.

  5. Joe Connor says:

This whole “Storm the School Boards” thing is a coordinated national strategy. Run for every open School Board seat . If they win a few all good but winning is not the point. The play is to organize the local wing nut cadre behind the losing candidates, show up at the meetings and disrupt and throw sand in the gears of the operation of schools. Masks are today’s rallying cry but the disruption is the point and the issues will be endlessly created.

  6. Mitch Crane says:

How come the Delaware GOP hasn’t been protesting the wearing of masks by children EVERY HALLOWEEN?

  7. John Kowalko says:

I think Governor Carney would best serve the public’s interest and security by assigning two to four State Policemen at every school board meeting. When the handful of conspiracy theorists attempt to enter maskless or remove their masks they should be denied entrance and/or escorted out of the proceedings. If they resist than they should be arrested and charged accordingly. Most decent and sane people are fully aware of the real and imagined discomfort in wearing a mask but understand the deadly ramifications of exposure to the unvaccinated (children under 12) and health-compromised. Madness and stupidity do not become the norm because a small, vocal group of cultists choose to shout at the realities of science and life.
