The teacher shortage in Florida is so acute, DeSantis plans to allow military veterans to teach in Florida provided these subs have 60 hours of college coursework and attained a 2.5 GPA.
Yep, knew this was coming. Teachers are fleeing the red states and rightly so, same for healthcare workers as they realize the red states have put a target on their backs. Much worse is that teaching has become a career many fear to go into and will avoid. The end result will be that states will have to pay teachers as we now pay nurses to get them back into the field.
lol, there has been a worsening nursing shortage for better on 20 or more years now. Also a shortage of nursing instructors. Fun fact, I left Wilmington for Sussex County because there were no open clinical nursing spots in the Philly-Wilmington area at the time. That was 1993. Starting nursing salaries are still pretty dismal even in the hospital setting and of course you still are required to work 12+hour shifts, weekends and holidays as the norm. No wonder few want to do it for very long. Teachers are in a similar but different boat. But at least hedge fund managers get to carry interest, lol thanks Sienimin and republican dirt bags.
Thankfully when many of us came of age during child bearing years we could not afford children and chose not to burden the public education system.
