‘Attend The Tale’: First Draft Complete!

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, Featured by on September 26, 2022

“Attend the Tale of Speaker Pete

His fall from grace is well nigh complete

His cargo shorts and his sun-baked pate

Did nothing to save Speaker Pete from his fate

With KMG he felt complete

Did Speaker Pete

The Laughingstock of Rehoboth.

He ran the show in Dover Town

He scared the minions, then chopped them down

And though his pharmacist filled no scrips,

Her blue pills kept Speaker Pete more-or-less stiff

That’s Petey

That’s Speaker Pete

The flaccid has-been in Dover

‘Swing Your nightstick high, Petey

Beat them ’til they’re sore.

Smash them in their skulls and skin

For LEOBOR.”

This could use some editing.  Nathan?  You like Sondheim, AND you’re a scribe.  Any suggestions? Or is this (a) beyond hope or (b) perfection personified?

Oh, you want the source material?  Here ya go:

  1. Tentative Chorus:

    ‘Swing Your nightstick hard, Petey

    Smash ’em ’til they’re sore.

Skull and skin are just no match

    For LEOBOR.”

Still working on that second verse…

    • Joe Connor says:

Nice, but the second verse should maybe reflect his quickly waning power. When I confronted him Saturday, he went through the motions, but the Big Bully energy was not there. When I pushed back, he did not even go a second round. He is a spent force:).

  2. bamboozer says:

Yikes! I this really the end of Little Rico, er… I meant Petey and the almighty power of the Kop Kabal? We shall see, but if this keeps up we may well experience good government in Delaware. Yes, nothing more then a flight of fancy at this point, but we can dream, of yes, we can dream.

    • Kop Kabalist Larry Mitchell is gone. Kop supporter Andria Bennett is gone (remember when they covered up her beating up her husband, probably at Pete’s request?). Kop Kabalist Steve Smyk is out of the House and, Yahweh willing, will lose to Russ Huxtable and be out of the GA altogether.

Next time: Franklin Cooke, assuming that Matt Meyer can take time out from carrying Deb Heffernan’s carcass around, and stops the County cops from intimidating a Cooke opponent out of the race, as they did this year. (I know that those impacted are reluctant to talk, but, if I was an editor, I’d have a reporter at least follow up on this as it really happened.)

Pete will be out of leadership, leaving only Our PAL Val remaining. He’ll likely be gone from the General Assembly no later than 2024. Things are looking up.

  3. Mike says:

Bill Bush and Lumpy should also be on the target list for 2024.

  4. nathan arizona says:

El Som – Just saw this. I think it’s great. Not sure I could improve anything, but I’ll ponder it.
