Trump’s Hunter Biden Defense is as stupid as it sounds.

Earlier, as he informed Chutkan that the defense plans to file motions to dismiss for each conspiracy charge in the case as quickly as possible, Lauro argued that the prosecution’s entire case is political and told Chutkan that the defense may allege that the charges were brought in “retaliation” for Trump and his allies’ attacks on and investigations into the President’s son, Hunter Biden.

The Dollar General gunman WAS planning on shooting up Florida’s oldest HBCU, but students saw him prepping for the attack and summoned a campus cop, and, well, he was a coward as well as a racist

Oops…. What are the odds?   While I was typing that another campus shooting took place:

Good People Doing Great Things

This story made me feel real good. So this is literally a feel-good story: The more than 30 proud, self-described gutter-pagan, mostly queer dirtbags in their early 30s gathered ‘round Friday night bearing shots of Svedka and Roman candles and sparklers, as the glow of Camden kissed their faces from across the river. The thing […]

Top 10 Things Trump Might Have Done Differently

Filed in National by on August 28, 2023 2 Comments

Our political memories are short, but you may recall that the Biden DOJ was desperate for Trump to just shut his fat mouth and go away quietly.  They never would have prosecuted him if he acted even a little but normal.  But Trump being Trump, that wasn’t in the cards.

In addition to simply shutting his fat mouth and quietly going away,  there is a long list of things Trump could have done to avoid all his legal troubles.  This is by no means an exhaustive list:

Trump could have…

  1. …left secret documents in the White House when he lost the election and stopped being President.
  2. …returned the secret documents when he was asked for them.
  3. …not shared secret documents with people at Bedminster golf club
  4. …not told his staff to obstruct justice.
  5. …not endorsed a “fake electors plan”
  6. …not fired up supporters to attack the Capitol.

Song of the Day 8/28: Al Green, “Perfect Day”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on August 28, 2023 1 Comment

Soul legend Al Green hasn’t released an LP since 2008 or a single since 2018, so he got a lot of attention last week when he dropped a cover of the Lou Reed classic “Perfect Day.” At 77, he’s still got a fine instrument, even if he reaches for fewer high notes than you might […]

Congrats Libs!  You made the Republicans turn into racist murders by being so liberal.  Happy Now? All the rightwing nuts and centrist dipshits agree.  Conservatives can’t be held responsible for anything because they have no agency.  Like babies, all conservatives can do is react to liberals and the media.     Vivek Ramaswamy blames the media […]

What are Trump’s real chances of winning?

What are Trump’s real chances of winning?

What does “winng” even mean for Trump? We know it doesn’t mean being found not guilty in court because he isn’t really mounting a conventional legal defense. Winning, at this point, means getting close enough in the Electoral College to push this into some omnibus Supreme Court case that finds that Trump is indeed King. […]

Guest post by Nathan Arizona If country music is leaving a poor taste in your mouth thanks to Jason Aldean’s confrontational “Try That in a Small Town” or Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond,” you can cleanse your palate with another newly-released song by a country artist, a song about as beloved as any […]

Song of the Day 8/25: Santana feat. Michelle Branch, “The Game Of Love”

You can better understand the sentiment behind the line “hope I die before I get old” when you see what reactionaries some of rock’s elder statesmen have become. Eric Clapton and Van Morrison revealed themselves – well, re-revealed themselves – as selfish twits during the Covid crisis. Now Carlos Santana has come out, mid-concert, as […]

That. Mug. Shot. (Fulton County Sheriff’s Office) At first, I was fixated by the Death Stare, figuring that Trump had rehearsed this ad nauseum in order to look as resolute as Winston Churchill in that famous WW II photo. Then, inevitably, my eyes became riveted on his ‘dome-icile’, and what does, or doesn’t, reside therein.  […]

The biggest surprise about the right-wing freakout over drag queens is that they haven’t yet shifted the focus to porn. If they’re going to get upset over men putting women’s clothes on, imagine their reaction to women taking their clothes off. Maybe they’re just so accustomed to sex being used to sell everything else that […]
