Old Time Democrat, Joe Biden, Sides With UAW Strikers Over Profiteers

Coons must be hopping mad about all this “communism” coming from the White House.

US President Joe Biden delivered televised remarks on the US auto workers strikes from the White House

President Joe Biden sided with striking US auto workers Friday, saying they had not been given a fair cut of record profits at the “Big Three” manufacturers.

“Auto companies have seen record profits…. Those record profits have not been shared fairly, in my view, with those workers,” Biden said.

In televised remarks from the White House, Biden urged a contract that “sustains (workers) in the middle class.”

“It’s my hope the parties can return to the negotiating team to forge a win-win agreement.”

The strikes threaten Biden’s 2024 re-election momentum, as he often touts his support for unions and has made reviving US manufacturing a key campaign plank.

The walkout followed a failed last-minute push by General Motors, Ford and Stellantis to produce an agreement before the deadline late Thursday.

Biden said he had been in touch with both sides and would now send two administration officials to join the negotiations.

How many of these unionized workers will actually vote D in ‘24? Take a walk through the employee lot and you’ll see lots of jacked up trucks with .223 novelty antennas and Mono Abe stickers. There is a massive disconnect between the union autoworker of 2023 and regular workers. They will walk the union line to get their payouts and then yank the ladder up as soon as the cameras are turned off. As far as I’m concerned, I hope these people get screwed and replaced with full time scabs. They will never show respect or solidarity and shouldn’t expect it in return

I don’t care who they vote for. What’s right is right, and organized labor and workers rights are central to the party platform.
While I would hope the rank and file union workers get this, I am ok with not trying to punish people at the expense of doing the right thing.

When ostensibly union people vote R, they are not part of the part platform. Same goes for cop unions. Treating all union activity as equal and just without imposing a solidarity litmus test is foolish
