Dr. John Gartner, the Johns Hopkins psychologist who last week pointed out that what passes for Donnie Dotard’s mind is slipping fast, offers even more examples piled up in the intervening week.

I’ve seen several articles claiming we’re going to miss Mitch McConnell when he’s gone, which is like saying we’ll miss Putin once he’s gone because someone even worse will take over. Let this serve as a reminder of how he destroyed the independent judiciary, a major step in bringing the country to the Third World status its politics enjoy today.

Former state Rep. John Kowalko has for decades opposed government giving corporations money to “create jobs,” only to see it turn into just giving money to corporations for no good reason. Reporters at the Conversation did an in-depth study on how those tax breaks impoverish schools. Delaware wasn’t one of the places studied, but it’s not much different from the 27 states that were, except that bumbling John Carney made sure it’s now given out behind closed doors. I love how Delaware keeps demonstrating that Democrats are no more on the side of the people than Republicans are.

Except for their exceptionally noisy bleating and lack of usefulness, Trumpers are indistinguishable from sheep. I love this story about how some conmen in Macedonia made millios selling them worthless “credit cards” that these simpletons thought

Finally, this story has very little to do with Delaware except the guy was born in Wilmington, but the night watchman who allowed art thieves dressed as cops to enter the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990, where they pulled off the biggest art heist in history, has died. None of the art, worth $1.2 billion, has been recovered. Richard Abath was 57.

The floor’s yours.

We have known that DJT has been off his rocker the moment he came down the escalator. That’s not “new” news. Biden’s issues are actually relevant because he is *the president* for the next eight months and he has a lot on his plate.

Circling the wagons and demanding that we bend the knee to the old white guy is the headfake that the mainstream dem party has rammed down our throats for the last fifty years. It’s a recipe for more of the same.

Demanding that we abandon the non-facist old white guy is a head fake to ram the fascist old white guy down our throats.

      • Jason says:

        Agree ^

After months of hammering on Biden’s age, a new poll from the very legit NYT, (a newspaper many think of as “liberal”) says that 73% of Americans think Biden is too old to be President of the United States.

        Huzzah! Free press!

      • puck says:

It is ridiculous to claim the winner of the Dem primary and the popular vote is being “rammed down our throats.”

        However….

If you recall Jim Clyburn and a whole bunch of SC church ladies pulled Biden’s nuts out of the fire in the 2020 SC primary, and they all knew how old Biden is, and we all saluted their wisdom.

So it is reasonable to ask those folks what their plan is for dragging Biden over the national finish line in 2024.

A great many of my comments on this blog over the years come down to me asking some version of – why are Democrats tamping down the enthusiasm of their members?

I think I decided that there was good money in tamping down the enthusiasm of Democrats. Also, dirty socialist hippies are dirty.

      • Kevis Greene says:

Biden announcing that he will not seek re-election and endorsing Gretchen whitmer is a powerful strategy. You might even see people genuinely excited to vote for a democratic candidate, for the first time since 2008.

        • puck says:

That actually might be a good idea, if not for the existence of Vice President Kamala Harris. And if there were some reason Biden had to drop out, which there currently is not.

          • Kevis Greene says:

Kamala can be managed. She can be sidelined with a nice ambassadorship somewhere.

Joe is one televised gaff away from a disaster. If he locks up like Mitch he won’t be able to convincingly transfer power or give an endorsement

            • puck says:

“[Kamala] can be sidelined with a nice ambassadorship somewhere.”

Not a good look for Dems, especially when running against misogynist white supremacists.

              • Andrew C says:

Can you imagine how angry Black Americans will be if Kamala Harris is “managed” and pushed out of the White House? This would be a terrible mistake.

              • Kevis Greene says:

Harris knowingly participated in her own tokenization within the Biden administration – the Black community can see through her facade. She does not have our interests at heart. I’m sure I don’t have to explain the term “Oreo” for you to get the picture.

Regardless, the optics of propping up a doddering old guy because “it worked four years ago” are much worse

    • Delawarelefty says:

Yup, that is exactly what the evil Democrats did in 2010 and 2014. WTF

  2. Constitution be damned:

    https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/03/04/us/trump-supreme-court-colorado-ballot

Much like the 2nd Amendment, the Supreme Court rules that the words of the 14th Amendment don’t mean what they plainly mean.

    9th Representative Democratic Committee

The 9th Representative Democratic Committee has recently learned the Colonial Region Republicans of Delaware, an umbrella group that includes the 9th RD Representative Republican Committee, has invited convicted felon, and admitted insurrectionist Derrick Evans to their “Spirit of Freedom Dinner” to be held on March 15, 2024, at the Executive Banquet and Conference Center in Newark, DE. The organizers proudly proclaim Mr. Evans as a “J6 defendant” and have made him their Special Guest Speaker in their annual fundraising dinner, which will raise money to support local New Castle Republicans.

The 9th RD Democratic Committee strongly condemns the invitation of Mr. Evans, who has cynically defended his actions at the Capitol on January 6th, which led to a felony civil disorder charge, to rally support for his far-right Congressional campaign in West Virginia. The mere fact that New Castle County Republicans would invite an admitted insurrectionist who posed a violent threat to our democracy is mind-boggling as it is repugnant. Mr. Evans is not someone who is only “accused;” he admitted to his guilt in trying to stop the certification of a lawful Presidential election by taking forceful and violent actions, was convicted, and served prison time for his actions. Mr. Evans has shown no remorse for his actions, or the insurrection that resulted in injuries to numerous Capitol Police officers.

Mr. Evans is a shameful character who no one should celebrate, let alone New Castle County Republican leaders who surround themselves in American flag regalia yet invite those who attack its true meaning. We find it ironic that the dinner is called the “Spirit of Freedom” Dinner, while their guest worked hard to strike a dagger into the foundation of our freedom, a free and fair election.

    9th Representative Democratic Committee Chair

    Kevin Caneco

It would be nice to get Kevin Hensly on the record supporting or condemning this choice of speaker.
