Delaware Political Weekly: Week Ending April 2, 2026

1. Leader Of Flock To Be Sacrificial Lamb To Sarah McBride. A Black preacher named Earl Cooper.  You just know what the first thing out of his mouth was:

“Our children are our greatest treasure, and if we don’t protect them, we fail the very future of Delaware!  Let me be clear: boys should not be competing in girls’ sports!”

Now, that’s what I call protecting our children.

Check this out:

On my first day in office, I will launch a person-to-person Senior Access Hotline so every senior can speak to a real human being about their concerns, not a machine or endless paperwork.

Really?  How you gonna do that?

I’d share a bio, had he provided one.  No sense picking him apart any more than it makes sense picking wings off flies.

2.  A Democratic Candidate For the Democratic Nomination For State Treasurer?  Infinitely preferable to the two out-of-state wannabes currently running.  The name is Francisca Moreno.  They are the President of the Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence. More about Francisca:

Francisca Moreno (they/them), DVS, is an experienced trainer on domestic and sexual violence. They train on the dynamics of domestic violence with an emphasis on intersectionality, acknowledging how people’s identities impact the way they experience domestic violence. They are a graduate of the University of Delaware (2022), having graduated with a double major in Criminal Justice and Women and Gender Studies with a concentration in Domestic Violence Prevention and Services. Francisca has experience working with the Latino community in Wilmington as a community health worker. They use this experience to identify training needs and develop effective training programs. In their free time you can find Francisca at their local library or spending time with their cats.

All I can say is, I finally have someone who I can vote for in the primary.

3. AG Kathleen Jennings Files For Reelection.  I know that some people, including me, supported other candidates for AG when she first ran.  But, more than any other Delaware elected official, she has led. the fight against the excesses of the Trump regime.  I’m glad  that we’ll likely have her around for four more years.

4.  Jason Hoover Files In NCC District 4.  I’ll say it again–while his issue positions are attractive, if he doesn’t raise money which, quite frankly, shouldn’t be all that difficult to do, he will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Terrell Williams, who had position papers out the wazzoo, and barely a nickel to promote them/him. District 4 is currently represented by Penrose Hollins, who is retiring.

5. Filing(s): R Rep. Shannon Morris (RD 30).

That’s all I’ve got this week.  What’d I miss, and whaddayathink?

  1. The Rev conducts a GREAT interview with Will Imbrie-Moore. Check it out:

Then donate. In fact, you will WANT to donate. Seriously:

    • Will and the Rev talked a lot about Kim Williams putting the kibosh on free school lunches.

I must point out that she was PROUD of doing that and even got Rae Moore thrown off her committee because she dared to challenge Williams on eliminating those lunches.

I’d hammer that point home every chance I got. Kim Williams high-fiving people for keeping hungry kids from eating. Especially when lobbyists pay for her meals while she feeds at the public trough.

      • Ron Barber says:

Can you show a single example of child not being fed? I’ll wait.

        • In her position as both Chair of JFC and as Chair of the House Education Committee, she BRAGGED about killing proposed free lunches for students.

          Bragged about it.

Are you telling me she didn’t?

          I’ll wait.

    • TheBigHam says:

Sooooo many red flags with this kid. And you could sense that REV and Bill we’re also skeptical with some of their follow-up questions. He’s clearly a trust fund nepo kid with absolutely no connection to the community in which he seeks to serve. He moved around the country bc his parents went on ‘sabbaticals’? That screams a life where they had enough money laying around they could take a break to travel. St. Andrew’s? Harvard? 12th generation delawarean? Who claims those as real-life credentials? I’m born and raised in the 19th district, and I cannot see a world in which he’ll be able to connect and relate with the constituency there. Where does he even live in the district? Good luck to him – I wish to be a fly on the wall as he’s going door to door in Marshallton Heights, Belvedere or Newport.

      • You and I clearly didn’t listen to the same podcast.

Guess you didn’t listen to his proposals, which were both well thought-out and should appeal to the constituency in RD 19.

But Kim Williams needs her trolls to dirty up the opposition.

        Have at it.

      • Alby says:

I have no dog in the fight, but as always the question is a simple one: Would he be better than Kim Williams? Everything else is beside the point.

Are you worried about his apparent affluence because he won’t be effective? Or is it just class envy?

        • He did grassroots for Bernie and Sen. Warren, he was part of the Biden-Harris Wilmington team.

It’s not like he’s been eating quiche for the past ten years.

        • Tucker says:

I think he is a good vehicle /vessel to advance progressive policies and I think he would be effective in office. But he needs to get elected first. His affluence is strike 1; and the lack of an established connection to RD19 is strike 2. Free school lunches are great but the issues that will mobilize RD19 voters are more immediate quality of life concerns, like vagrancy in the prices corner area by the detox center and the truck traffic on the 41 corridor.

I’m also not clear on what he does for an actual job.

          • Alby says:

Truck traffic on the 41 corridor is outside the purview of a state representative. Not even sure what the potential fix for that would be. Is the increased traffic, if there is one, linked to the Amazon distribution center at Boxwood?

            • Tucker says:

No it’s commercial freight more broadly using the area as a shortcut. Several ideas have been posed to Kim including using extra space up at the old Bissell hospital for truck enforcement/weigh station, and adding traffic calming features like on harmony road (where you have to slolom around concrete curbs too tight for most semis to handle at speed). Everything gets shot down. It’s the same deal with vagrancy- pike creek doesn’t have people hustling you on medians and pitching tents outside of closed rite aids. She just rambles about the hope center and moves on

              • I understand your reticence.

Keep in mind, though, that this is a guy who’s been doing grassroots campaigning for the likes of Bernie and Elizabeth Warren. Since 2016. He knows how to have conversations with working people.

He didn’t do it while wearing white gloves and effecting a faux British accent either.

              • Alby says:

Route 41 isn’t a shortcut, it’s a direct route from Pa. to the retail complex at Prices Corner. Widening it would ease congestion, but I don’t think that’s in DelDOT’s master plan.

I find the notion that a state rep is going to move DelDOT rather delusional.

      • Joe Connor says:

This is troll speak for a really scared Kim!

      • Eric Blair says:

So the criticism is Will I-M is too smart and his successful family has been in Delaware too long? Ok buddy

  2. Jonathan Tate says:

It looks like I and many others multiple state legislators fell victim to a very well-planned, very high effort April Fool’s Day prank! Francisca is not running for State Treasurer 🙁 https://www.instagram.com/p/DWpdfSuDbfi/?igsh=MXF1azRhZGtnbzB4

  3. Wasabi Peas says:

Just a reminder that self-avowed environmentalist Jason Hoover regularly uses AI in his everyday life at his business, Trolley Web. He also unapologetically lied about his competition when running for County Council Prez a couple years ago, has balked at involving Black leaders in his push for ranked choice voting in DE, and doesn’t have a backbone to stand up against small criticisms, let alone the likes of Tim Sheldon. Finally, he used the term “public safety” in dog whistle-like fashion in his previous campaign. He’ll probably get elected without a problem since there’s no primary challenger as of yet, but I don’t see him doing much to serve/protect his constituents who live outside Mid-Town/Trolley/Highlands. I would love to know if he’s even campaigning in Penrose’s neighborhood up by P. S. DuPont.

    • There are two other primary candidates. I place union guy Curtis Linton as the likely favorite, based on who has filed.

    • John Manifold says:

Wasabi: Many industries use artificial intelligence in this era and more will do so. The rest of your post veers downhill.
Jason Hoover is a classic good-government candidate with sorely needed understanding of technology, environment and public accountability.
