Chris Kenny Sure Likes Pissing Away Money

Filed in National by on May 22, 2020

With all of his whining about how high his taxes are, you’d think blowing piles of money on an ill conceived vanity campaign for Gov would be low on his list of things to do.

If he is this profligate with his personal finances, can Delawareans really trust him with the state’s checkbook?

John Carney is an idiot, any one but him.

Oof… I know that makes sense to you, but it never works on election day. And if that is Kenny’s campaign he isn’t just burning money in his fireplace, he is bulldozing money into a volcano.

  3. Gotta say, I admire the work of the Kenny Family Foundation. They’re not your typical RWNJ R’s:

The article you link to is on a food industry website, and if you read closely appears to have been written by the Kenny Family Foundation itself and dates from 2015.

From shopping at their stores, my impression is that the foundation’s largesse consists mainly of collecting dollars from shoppers in the checkout line and then spreading it around in small amounts to a wide variety of community organizations in the family’s name, thus leveraging a great deal of recognition for very little outlay of the family’s own funds. Nowhere have I ever seen the foundation proclaim, “Funded by the generosity of your neighbors who shop at our stores.”

Of the activities listed in the website article, a number appear to be aimed at teaching families and schoolchildren to shop at their stores, and conspicuously absent — particularly for a company in the grocery business — is any mention of helping stock community food pantries or supporting the Food Bank of Delaware.

All that said, I hope my impression is wrong, and someone will enlighten me as to the financial contributions of the members of the Kenny family itself to the foundation that bears their name.

I always recoil when I see that charitable donation racket at a store or fast food place. “Do you want to help us lower our income tax bill?”

      Hmmmm… no thanks.

I ran this idea by a state party person back at the end of April and was told, likely a run for governor. Now we get a mailer.

You cut off what it says for contacting him but the word Delaware is in there. Wouldn’t mind knowing what that says.

Thanks, I should note that the party person was a DEM that I spoke with. Just noticed that wasn’t clear .

  6. If Kenny is gonna run for governor as an R, he’ll first have to defeat one Neil Shea. He filed yesterday. You can see him here shaking hands with…Ollie North:

    https://www.sheafordelaware.com/

He runs, or has run, Bellefonte Brewing Company.

We’ve got a ‘groceries vs. beer’ primary.

    • Alby says:

Which proves, I suppose, that brewing beer ain’t rocket surgery.

    • Hop-Frog says:

Shea is currently listed on Bellefonte Brewing’s website as CEO/CFO and one of three owners, and the address for dropoffs to his campaign headquarters is the brewery’s new location on Marsh Road.

OLLIE NORTH? That’s a mighty dim star to hitch your wagon to.

      • Hop-Frog says:

In a Shea update of sorts, I stopped by the Marsh Road location of Bellefonte Brewing yesterday afternoon to check it out and maybe get a growler filled only to find the bartender (who looked to be Shea) and a half-dozen guys hanging in a tight cluster at the bar, all without masks. Three steps in the door, and I bailed.
