And just like that, the media’s obsession with giving voice to Democrats quivering with fear over Joe Biden’s feebleness is yesterday’s news. Well, almost. Axios quoted a “senior House Democrat” saying, “We’ve all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had the right response on Twitter. “If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism. This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people. Retire.” “Functionally useless” is a pretty good description of the Democratic Party, actually.

Luckily for Democrats, all they have to do to be competitive is be more competent than Republicans, which isn’t a very heavy lift. Consider Texas, home to more dumbfuckery than all the Democratic-controlled states combined. A week ago Hurricane Beryl knocked out power to millions in the Houston area, and more than 100,000 are still without power. Gov. Greg Abbott, who was swanning around the Far East when it hit, talked tough about holding the electric company responsible, which deserves a hearty laugh in a state that allowed a space rocket launching pad in a nature preserve.

One downside to the assassination attempt: Pundits with spasming sphincters now have even more reason to stock up on Depends. Here’s a representative example by a guy who thinks it “puts the republic in peril.” Why, because MAGAts will throw an extra conniption?

Let’s see if they have any conniptions left over after they gather in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention starting tonight. The main point of interest will be whether any of these brain-dead whiners will tone down the violent rhetoric after their Dear Leader was wounded. Let’s check the Magic 8 Ball. Oops. “Outlook not so good.”

The floor’s yours.

  1. Arthur says:

The headlines should be “trumper shots at Trump and kills other trumper but democrats the problem”

    • Alby says:

He was registered Republican. That doesn’t make him a Trumper. In an area dominated by Republicans it’s just commons sense to register as one, because the primary, not the general, will determine your lawmakers.

The Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Commission is holding its first subcommittee meeting since Kathy Jennings called for a funding freeze due to BHL’s inept management and lack of oversight.

The Public Outreach Committee is meeting at 10am today, and there will be an opportunity for public comment.

    • MonteCristo says:

Looks like public comment comes after their vote to pay some “professional group” to do “outreach”. I can only assume this means some sort of grassroots work to help elect Bethany with taxpayer dollars. Would be nice to have that vote after the public comment.

Why are they voting to spend more money? Did the AG demand that it be halted because of the uhhh crime?

Over 50 percent of the grantees were donors to Bethany. Will this firm be a donor too?

Does Susan Holloway have an attorney yet?

Well, America, we now have proof that we’re getting the presidential election that God wanted.
Saturday night’s divine intervention — “God alone” saved Trump — was preceded by a case of divine non-intervention — only “the Lord Almighty” could persuade Biden to step aside.
    Couple of lessons learned:
    1. God is indeed an old white man.
    2. Contrary to what the nuns might have told you, God does not play favorites. He hedges his bets and gives both sides what they want.

  4. Wanna know who to oppose in Delaware elections? Anyone who Jimmy Maravelias endorses. The two latest upon whom he has bestowed endorsements?:

    Kathy McGuiness

The Other Mike Smith (Val’s designee who is primarying Frank Burns in RD 21 b/c Val wants to remain Speaker)

If you prefer corruption-free government, vote against these two miscreants.

  5. Jason says:

People are saying that that Senior Democrat talking off the record to Axios was Senator Chris Coons.

  6. liberalgeek says:

The tea leaves seem to indicate that JD Vance is Trump’s VP pick.

    • I read ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ back before Vance converted himself into a MAGAt.

Lotsa those ‘hillbillies’ would not be happy with how much blame he heaped on them were they (able) to read the book.

      Total phony, through and through.

      • Alby says:

He was lying about being embarrassed by them, too. It was plain as day that he was bragging about them while pretending to condemn them.

  7. Mike Dinsmore says:

Why do I keep getting this “Wag the Dog” feeling about this whole Trump thing?
