What Else I Want to See Happen

Filed in Delaware by on September 26, 2024

El Somnambulo asked this question last week, but unlike others, my answer is backward-looking. I still want to see an actual audit of Bethany Hall-Long’s books, because I still don’t understand how her husband managed to ring up tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of campaign expenses on personal accounts that the campaign then “reimbursed” him for.

At the very least it sounds like they were charging things on a personal account that might have been attached to a cash-back or rewards program. If that’s all it was, I’d think it would be exonerating to show it, so I don’t think that’s all it was. And don’t insult my intelligence by pretending she didn’t know anything about it.

I worry that because she lost this will all be dropped; that would be the Delaware Way. It shouldn’t be.

To be honest I’m just fatigued by all her bullshit. It’s enough for me that she’s gone.

Maybe I’m insanely naive but taking out BHL and Val should be a shot across the bow for the others to fly straight from now on,

Here’s the problem-without a full accounting of her crimes, she will surface in another capacity somewhere in the private or nonprofit sector. People have short memories and without a conviction this will all be treated as a mean spirited campaign. My guess is that with all those pockets she lined with opioid money, there are enough people our there who owe her a favor.

No, better to make an example of her. Ruined reputation, so untouchable even her family shuns her. Maybe she gets divorced, loses her house, has to live in some townhouse dump in some corner of bear. Then she can distribute all the narcan she wants.

“has to live in some townhouse dump in some corner of bear”

        Nice.

We call it “Alapocas West”, but I guess “townhouse dump” will do.

And to think that Mom used to say “Clean your plate, there are starving people in Westover Hills.”
