‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes: November, 2024
A short list this month as I begin preparations on my Fave Tunes Of 2024 list. I’ve already combed my lists from earlier this year and, from them, have narrowed down the number of contenders to around 75. I’ll no doubt add a few others as I check out other Best-Of lists. Barring something unforeseen, my #1 and #2 songs are set in stone.
But, I digress. Which of these songs deserve consideration?:
I admit it: Although I like a song here or there from Father John Misty, I can’t help but think that he’s playing a joke on us. Still. I like a song here or there:
OK, four of the eight songs made my initial cut. Can you, and/or Nathan Arizona, guess which ones?
Really like that song by Elias Ronnenfelt, who is new to me. I get some Bob Dylan vibes. Speaking of Dylan, I can hardly imagine a worse choice than Timothee Chalamet to play him in the new film. I guess it’s a movie star thing, but what I’ve seen from Chalamet hasn’t impressed me. At least they got the hair right.
Nice to see the Doves keeping their sort of music alive.
Not sure of the answer to your question at the end, but I bet one of the songs is that tune by tropical lush ice.
Yep. And the Elias Ronnenfelt. The other two are Shabaka/Billy Woods and Westside Cowboy.
You know me too well…
BTW, I’m curious–what’s YOUR take on Father John Misty?
My take on Father John Misty is almost exactly the same as yours. I might like a few more songs than you do, but there are a whole lot of his I haven’t heard at all. And I’m not crazy about the guy’s assumed name.
