Brilliant
We are going to make them own the Birthers or risk their wrath:
[Rep. Neil Abercrombie’s] resolution’s main purpose will be to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. And while commemorating that grand history, the resolution will of course mention how the state is Obama’s birthplace.
This gives Republicans a choice: Vote yes on the resolution, which would repudiate the Birthers; vote no, to endorse them; or skip the vote, which would basically be the same as voting no.
I love it.
Oh the Republicans are now lying in the beds they made. They spent years courting the crazies without giving them much (except Terri Schiavo legislation and we see how that turned out) and the crazies have pretty much pushed out the pragmatic conservatives. Now they’re left trying to keep the crazies happy, which doesn’t do much for building a coalition.
I’d vote to remove the information about Hawaii being Obama’s birthplace.
Not because I’m a Birther.
Because I don’t believe that Barack Obama is anything to be proud of.
and i feel the same about that POS Reagan.
I understand– after all, he was responsible for bringing down the Berlin Wall and other moves towards freedom worldwide. That is sufficient to anger any Leftist.
Actually, the Berlin Wall did not fall on Reagan’s watch. That is Poppy’s legacy.
And it was the policies of Reagan inherited and continued by Bush 41 that brought it about. Even Bush 41 acknowledges that (I’ve heard him say as much).
your ideas on correlation and causation, rwr, are rather silly and quite telling.
I love it. Who wants to bet that “birthers” get a plank in the GOP platform at the next convention? I say, go birther crazies, go!
So you position on this is what, RWR? You would vote no on a resolution honoring Hawaii on its 50th anniversary of entry into the union just because you don’t like Barack Obama. Petty. Imagine your comments to us if we said that about Texas.
I want someone to ask Sarah Palin about the birthers. I bet you $1 million dollars she embraces them.
Hahahaha. Guess what just happened on the floor of the House? The Queen of Crazy, Republican star Michelle Bachmann, just blocked the Hawaii Resolution.

Unbelievable. You Republicans are despicable and hilarious at the same time.
I’d vote “present” — and dare any Leftist to criticize me for having done so.
Oh — and as I noted above, the position I took on Reagan and the Berlin Wall is the same position taken by Bush 41.
Yes, why do Republicans hate Hawai’i? Is it because they are elitists?
When the Dixie Chicks said they were “embarrassed” because Bush was from Texas they were hounded off the radio and got death threats.
The death threats were wrong and inexcusable. However, the fact that a large percentage of country music fans no longer wanted to listen to them does not bother me in the least — you are not entitled to popularity when you travel to foreign countries and trash our nation and president.
and you’re not entitled to popularity when you travel to foreign countries and NOT trash our nation and president. Hell, same applies if you praise.
damn, you’re not very smart, are you?
Ah, the old “Reagan single handedly defeated communism and brought down the Berlin wall” myth. Sweet. Remember… this fucking guy is a school teacher!! It is in Texas, which explains quite a bit, but still…
Cletis, do me a favor. Take one day off and try to learn something constuctive.
Actually, Cracker, I agree — you are not entitled to that popularity. The Ditzy Shits learned that the hard way.
And i say that as someone who called our local stations and urged them NOT to drop the band from their play list.
Well, I’ll stand with Bush 41 on that issue — having heard it from his own mouth.

This was just the first one I found. And this guy was a Reagan fan! I’d say his credentials are pretty good as well..
“Dr. Griessman has taught at the College of William and Mary, North Carolina State University, Auburn University, Tuskegee University, and Georgia Tech. He has served as Fulbright professor at the University of Islamabad in Pakistan, as consultant at the National Agrarian University of Peru, and as a visiting researcher at the University of New South Wales in Australia.”
Final roll call, bill passes 378 yeas, 55 not voting. No no votes. Even Bachmann voted yea.
I will need to confirm if those 55 “presents” are all Republicans, but if they are, I dare say we have 55 Birthers in the House.
Alas no. There were actually 35 Democrats and 25 Republicans not voting, with no indication of whether they were “present.” If they voted Present, then I say they are birthers.
Is one of the 25 Repubs Castle?
Anyway. this puts all that silly “birther” stuff behind us once and for all.

Actually, another fact today completely destroys any conspiracy theory.
From CNN President Jon Klien by way of Andrew Sullivan:
That’s it. It is over. Any birther is now a liar and a racist.
UI… by “birther bill” are you referring to the Republican bill requiring all Presidential candidates produce a birth certificate?
I wonder how RWR can hear anything when he has his head so far up his ass.
Campbell, Carter and Marchant, possibly.
Yes, the birther bill is H.R. 1503.
They’ve always been liars and racists, DD. A prominent birther was none other than James Von Brunn (Holocaust Museum shooter). And to think, Rush went to a lot of trouble to try to convince his audience that Von Brunn was a liberal.
Regards, MJ.
You moonbats are right. Lets burry the hatchet.
Lets take up a collection to put a memorial plaque on the Hospital where O was born…which one would that be?
And lets start a Med-Student scholarship in the name of the doctor who delivered O… er what is his name?
In fact, lets make it a congressional resolution so everyone can vote on it.
So talented, RWR. Is that what you hand-out to the students you don’t like?
If this comment from DelDem is true
http://delawareliberal.net//2009/07/27/brilliant/#comment-137800
Then how can this ALSO be true?
“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai’i State Department of Health verifying Barrack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago….”
Either your CNN source is wrong, or Dr. Fukino is lying, because the two are mutually contradictory.
And more to the point — were the originals microfilmed? And if they were reduced solely to electronic data, what security precautions are there to guarantee the integrity of the records? If there is no longer a paper trail, can we be certain of the citizenship of ANYONE born in Hawaii?
And I say all this as someone who DOES NOT DOUBT that Obama was born in Hawaii and is therefore a natural born citizen.
Fortunately, DelDem, the information you provided via CNN was absolutely FALSE.

Now just release the damn thing to shut up the Birthers! I don’t care if it shows his folks to not be married, lists his father’s ethnicity as other than black, or anything else — it is ALL irrelevant. But the President has the opportunity to shut down a needless controversy with the release of a single public document, and he ought to do it now. After all, this is supposed to be the most transparent administration in history.
“Now just release the damn thing to shut up the Birthers!”
We have explained this over and over again, Greg. It’s in the administration’s interest to have this thing hanging over Republican heads, and therefore it will do nothing to stop it. Do you disagree? If you were in that position — wingnuts making the opposition party look bad — would you stop it?
Even the top Congressional birther has abandoned them, but keep beating that drum RWR.
Simple question — should Obama operate for the good of the country or the good of his own political fortunes?
And i’ve said time and again that i believe Obama was born in Hawaii and that he is eligible to be president.
“Simple question — should Obama operate for the good of the country or the good of his own political fortunes?”
I don’t spend time debating what “should” happen. Almost all your posts are about that — the ideal world of your principles. It just doesn’t interest me. I’m more concerned with what actually happens and trying to stave off the worst of it.
In other words, you don’t care what’s good for the country. Thank you for clarifying that, Geezer. Also that you don’t care about principles — or is it simply that you don’t have any?
Yes, for the good of the country, keep pushing the birth certificate talk. It’s important for all those uninsured and unemployed people. It’s really helping Republicans, I promise.
