Newtmentum!
Newt Gingrich has announced for the umpteenth time that he’s running for president. Here’s his video announcement:
My quick thoughts:
– He looks tired
– His make-up is bad
– He actually talks about “winning the future.” He’s stealing Obama’s slogan? Why? Too busy to think of his own?
– He’s a tenther. Yay for the Articles of Confederation!
Check out his website. Let’s discuss Callista Gingrich’s hair. Does it scare you as much as it scares me?

Like Palin and O’Donnell and others, this has nothing to do with seeking the office and everything to do with flim-flamming the right-wingers out of their money. Think of the Bakers and their PTL Club. Jim Baker eventually went to jail and that con became too risky. But the laws governing PACs leave this sort of thing wide open. The con is on.
I’m amused that Gingrich is running on Clinton nostalgia, without mentioning Clinton’s name.
The speech is odd, but the first add is a doozie.
his name is Newt Gingrich….. it sounds like a form of syphilitic gangrene you catch from amphibians…
“i was down in the bayou without my pants and caught me a case of newt gingrich…..”
A distraction. Whatever relevance Gingrich had, he lost in the nineties.
He talks about Americans uniting to work together. I wonder if his frequent labeling of those he disagrees with as “socialist” is an example of people working together.
along with his morals and hair-stylist……
That’s a great point Dana. To be elected Republicans need to be seen as bridge builders by a majority of voters while being seen as bridge demolishers by the Republican base. Similarly, they need to be seen as sunny, optimists by voters while remaining angry pessimists to the GOP base.
Good insight, Jason. Since it appears that the GOP base is angling for a nutty presidential candidate in 2012, what the GOP nominee must say during the primaries to prevail will substantially differ with what she or he says during the general election. That will make it easy for Dems to point out the contradictions during the general election.
Similarly, they need to be seen as sunny, optimists by voters while remaining angry pessimists to the GOP base.
It takes a Reagan to pull that off. I suggest they look to Hollywood and try to find a wingnut with some acting experience playing decent people. I recently learned Kevin Sorbo is a wingnut. That might work.
@anon – I hear Charlie Sheen is available, and supports their views.
cant get worse than Trump – Sheen can at least act and seeing as Newt has a “morals issue” Sheen should fit right in.
At least you’ll know what you get with da Newtster….in a time of national need, he’ll find a much younger, better-looking country and leave.
