Friday Afternoon Bacon Blogging — Bacon Cake!
Bacon Slab Cake, that is. Just when you think this bacon thing can’t get any weirder, her comes someone to actually make a cake that looks like it:
Alan Grayson Wants to Know if a Republican Really Knows His Constitution
It is so much fun watching this guy — he is remarkably good at turning the wingnut rhetoric back at them with devastating results. This time he quizzes one of his cohorts Rep. Broun from GA on the law and the Constitution and makes it pretty clear that for all of their talk, walking the walk is still not a GOP goal:
Late Night Video — Two Dudes and a Webcam, Part II
Yep, this is brilliant — the Two Dudes in their bathrobes return to dis the WaPo for their seriously cheap contest looking for a new web pundit:
Grab A Mop, Get to Work
So I’m still catching up on the news and watched President Obama speak at a fundraiser in San Francisco. Definitely a red meat speech — as much as he actually does that — but it is a great speech specifically calling out the Party of No:
Late Night Video — There’s A Rep for That!
Don’t know if Apple will be asking to take this down anytime soon, but this is clever and funny:
Down With Tyranny Evaluates John Carney
…with help from Progressive Democrats of Delaware and Delaware Liberal contributors. The writer here also runs the Blue Progressive PAC and was looking for some input from the locals on John Carney’s progressive cred. You can see the full blog post over at Down With Tyranny here. The key evaluation comes from Rebecca, I think:
High Broderism Comes to Delaware Shilling for Mike Castle
The so-called Dean of the Washington Press Corps turns his attentions to Delaware this AM, with a column that discusses his thoughts about the possible upcoming race between Mike Castle and Beau Biden for Senate. It is a rare thing for the Villagers to turn their attentions to us, and I suppose we should expect more of this in the coming months.
CNN Leaves It There
I am always in awe of how astute Jon Stewart and his writers are. This is an astonishingly good takedown of the entire cable culture — the focus on providing programming and information, bu not necessarily on providing any context (fact-checking, esp) for that information. Indulging themselves in the He Say/She Say without giving you any way of being able to evaluate that info.
Fixing the Unfair Crack vs Cocaine Penalties
Senator Ted Kaufman is one of the co-sponsors of a bill introduced into the full Senate this week (it was voted out of the Judiciary Committee back in July) that would finally take on the incredible disparities in sentencing for those who are convicted of possession of either drug.
Friday Afternoon Bacon Blogging — Apocolypse Now
Just one word — Doughnutburger. Doughnutburger with Bacon. Have mercy. On The Other Hand! This is road-trip worthy — the Week o’ Bacon at 3 Bar and Grill in Arlington, VA. Awesome — Bacon Crusted Mahi Mahi (wish I knew what bacon powder was) and the dessert! Bacon-stuffed waffles with maple bacon icing — […]
Is Beau Biden Annoyed He’s Running?
Comment Rescue of a response from Geezer to yesterday’s polling thread:
BREAKING: BIDEN / CASTLE TIED (Updated with more numbers)
Biden and Castle are statistically tied in the latest poll of the premier Senate race of 2010. Carney is up big against all possible Republicans.
