The first three paragraphs of Goss' dopey, dumbed-down take in our upcoming elections read as though they were written by a Newark High School sophomore who broke into the News Journal offices and commandeered a workstation:
Democrats are hoping the midterms prove to be such an overwhelming referendum on the president that it produces a "blue wave" that filters down ballots and threatens Republicans running for state seats.
But the intro is just window dressing. The real point comes later when Goss adopts a ‎Philip K. Dick style alternative reality frame to discuss how Hansen and Paradee are vulnerable and what the Senate will be like when Lavelle becomes the leader.

Help Turn Out Democratic Swing Voters

The Democratic swing voter isn't the idiot "undecided" voter Chris Coons is trying to win over with his moderate incantations, and centerist voo-doo. The Democratic swing voter is not the dunderhead who thinks that "there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats." As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez put it “Our swing voter is not red-to-blue,” said Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old socialist who shot into the spotlight after beating 10-year party boss Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in the May primary. “Our swing voter is the voter to the non-voter, the non-voter to the voter.” Early voting in Texas is filling some with hope that those REAL swing voters are being reached.
Voters are turning out in record numbers in states with early vote options across the nation — and Democrats are excited about a lot of what they’re seeing. Turnout is way up across the map, with both Democrats and Republicans far exceeding their early vote numbers in nearly every state with a competitive statewide race on the ballot this year. Eighteen states and counting have already surpassed their total early vote counts from four years ago.
That said, I'm going into a news blackout now. I can't follow the minute by minute updates by 538.com or MSNBC's Steve Kornacki. I can't put myself through that. So I'll be volunteering locally and making "warm" calls to everyone I know to make sure they are planning to vote.

There is a effort underway at the News Journal to try and save Mike Ramone. How else do you make a connection, and try to build a false equivalency between Republican dirty tricks (like planting fake signs and making up outright lies about support for abortion in the ninth month) to DelawareLiberal's reporting on the Democratic Party's legitimate protest of Mike Ramone's crimes? There is a story here but it has to do with Goss' connection to Ramone. Why the yoeman's effort to stretch this dirty tricks story to cover Ramone? Even in light of the NJ's low journalistic standards - Scott Goss' hackery is unprecedented.

Open Thread – Trend to Democratic Partisanship WAAAAAY Overdue

For the ENTIRE time I've been blogging I've been saying that the Democrats approach to elections needed to be more "base turnout" oriented. In the past few years I've seen some positive changes in the Delaware electorate and now we only have some holdouts like Coons and Carney who still think that Republicans want to "cooperate" and come to "consensus" in the name of "good government." Complete bullshit, or course and bullshit that is increasing being called bullshit by Democratic voters. Last year PEW Research study showed that Democrats were finally catching up with Republicans with regard to sticking together and not bringing flowers to partisan fistfights (see below). So anyway...in thinking about today's poll question, I wonder if Trump is just speeding up a process that was already underway. We already know that the Democratic Party primary is THE election for statewide offices. If Simpler loses that clinches it. If it is a trend, Ramone, Lavelle, and every other Republican in New Castle County will be gone this election or next. It is well overdue and if you hear any Democrat like Carney or Coons claiming that Republicans are "trusted partners" please keep the momentum going by shouting down that bullshit.
