Politics 101: A Lesson Markell Never Taught Carney

When he was engaged in a primary campaign against John Carney, future Governor Jack Markell told me how he intended to get shit done when he became Governor. "Politics 101... find out what the other side wants and don't give it to them until they give you something you want." It is hard to argue with the basic common sense of that formulation. It may not be pretty, but that's how things get done. And yet, now we have Democratic "leadership" completely flummoxed by Republicans simply acting like the Republican assholes they are. How did we get here?

Hansen Takes Both Sides on CZA Gutting

When the vote came down, she was for it. But not until she made sure everyone knew that she was also against it.
Though she ended up supporting the bill, Sen. Stephanie Hansen read a statement outlining her reservations about casting a "yes" vote. "Failing companies and those just limping along are usually incapable of cleaning up the mess they make," Hansen said. "And companies that are operating just fine right now will do only what they are expected to do and only when it is discovered."

People who support John Carney in this Primary are helping Ken Simpler Win

You dolts are playing into Ken Simpler's hands. He wants you to support Carney and fight a damaging primary so that Dems are divided and angry when the general election gets here. Carney is a vanity candidate that stands for nothing other that fucking up the rightful nominees chances. Get a clue you unrealistic Carney zealots! Ken Simpler is the real opponent. (Ed Note: I'm just gearing up and getting ready of the inevitable, substance-less arguments that will be a daily (hourly?, 5-minutely?) feature of this blog's comments section when Carney faces a primary for his vaguely right of center, but otherwise feckless first term. The names will change, Carney's name will change position, but the arguments are evergreen.)

ACA replacement monstrosity will pass because – fuck it

Republicans fear their base, (and primary challenges from the right) a lot more than they fear losing to Democrats (scoff) in general elections. They also feel (rightly) that they were elected to fuck shit up. Fucking shit up is not a bug, it is a feature of GOP governance. So yes... this monstrosity should kill them but it will only make them stronger. You can read a longer version of this lament here if you are into that sort of thing.

Republican scumbags acting scummy

As much as I don't like "centrists" Democrats, it is important to keep in mind that many of them are decent folks who earnestly want the best for the country. They are just wildly wrong about how to get there. Republicans, on other hand are loathsome scumbags who are not bound by any sense of decency.
The television spot (attacking Ossoff), which was produced by the Principled PAC, shows House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) on a stretcher after the shooting, along with the sound of gunshots. “The unhinged left is endorsing and applauding shooting Republicans,” the ad’s narrator says. “When will it stop? It won’t if Jon Ossoff wins on Tuesday,” the narrator continues. The spot then shows several images and videos including one of comedian Kathy Griffin holding a fake severed head that looks like President Trump, as well as a letter that reads “Resist the Facist takeover. String up the collaborators.” The ad then claims “these same leftists are all for Ossoff, and if he wins, they win.” “Stop Jon Ossoff. Stop Nancy Pelosi. Vote Karen Handel for Congress,” the narrators concludes.
