Liz Cheney has no idea what the word “disgrace” means

The Cheney family is a pestilence. A curse on America.
Liz Cheney bashed President Obama Friday night for the way he characterized CIA interrogation practices after Sept. 11, 2001 as “torture.” “Even before I came into office, I was very clear that in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, we did some things that were wrong. We did a whole lot of things that were right, but we tortured some folks,” Obama said during a Friday press conference. We did some things that were contrary to our values.” Cheney said this was unacceptable.
Flowers winning the twitter primary?

Flowers winning the twitter primary?

From reformed GOPer, Mike Stafford's FB Page:
Is the size of a candidate's Twitter following a good gauge of their electability? If so, as of right now Flowers has more than 800, Barney just passed 400, and Ken Simpler, well, at 73 I'm not really feeling the whole populist groundswell thing. Meanwhile, Sher Valenzuela's Twitter strategy is to be invisible- I guess that makes her the stealth candidate.
Obviously an incumbent is going to have a built in twitter base. So this isn't exactly scientific, but primaries are all about turnout, so if a candidate is having trouble attracting people to their twitter account, how much harder will it be to attract them to the polls?

USDA Approves Poultry Industry Self Inspections – Get ready for the diarrhea

Diarrhea will actually be one of the milder outcomes, because all of the evidence provided by the history of capitalism says that this is going to fail, and fail catastrophically.
Poultry inspection, prepare to modernized. Or, if you prefer, privatized. The USDA late Thursday released its revamped poultry inspection rules, an overhaul to the 60-year-old system which, by allowing plants to self-inspect, it claims will simultaneously reduce the number of federal inspectors on site and incidences of foodborne illness.
No Tax revenue, no problem. Ultimately, you'll pay one way or another.

When I got to the last sentence I literally LOL'ed.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate voted Tuesday to keep federal highway money flowing to the states into December but only after rejecting the House's reliance on what lawmakers called a funding "gimmick" and moving to force a post-election debate on whether to raise gasoline taxes. The House could accept the Senate's changes or reject them and send the bill back to the Senate. Whichever outcome, a highway funding bill is still expected to clear Congress before lawmakers adjourn for the summer later this week. The Senate took up a $10.8 billion bill the House passed last week that would have kept the federal Highway Trust Fund solvent through next May and voted 66-31 to strip out controversial funding provisions, leaving $8.1 billion. That's enough to keep programs going only through Dec. 19. The amendment's sponsors — Democrats Tom Carper of Delaware and Barbara Boxer of California and Republican Bob Corker of Tennessee — said they want Congress to reach a long-term funding solution this year and they hope that will be easier after the November election when partisan tempers will presumably have cooled.

Joe Biden is usually funny – Not today

Who is writing for Biden now? Because this is some creaky shit.
Vice President Joe Biden joked Thursday at the National Urban League conference that he wished he had a child who grew up to be a Republican. “I should have one Republican kid who’d grow up to make money,” Biden said,

Sign this well researched and practical petition to call for SEPTA to increase service to Wilmington

Thank you to tipster Alex Zorach who sent in this link a petition, organized by David Curtis, to improve SEPTA train service to Delaware. As Alex mentioned, the petition seems well-researched, and the costs modest relative to the benefits. Apparently there is also a recent precedent of SEPTA adding significant service improvements in response to similar citizen petitions. Help give this petition a boost (and ask the next politician who asks for your money or vote about it).

Could a low turnout primary shock Schwartzkopf ?

Could a low turnout primary shock Schwartzkopf ?

I rather doubt Schwartzkopf will be caught with his pants down. But primaries are tricky, (just ask Mike Castle). Sure he won his last elections with 89.9% of the vote, but who has he faced? The GOP doesn't even both to run against him, so the 89% was against a fringe party. Have the gaudy vote totals made him soft? I know Mitch Crane talks up Pete as a solid door knocker, but that door knocking seems to have been on behalf of other candidates. Has he lost touch with the district? That he is facing a primary opponent suggest he may have.
Rehoboth Beach — For the first time in Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf's political career, he will have to face off against an opponent in a Democratic primary for the District 14 Representative seat. Rehoboth Beach resident Nelson Warren filed his nomination paperwork with the Sussex County Department of Elections in Georgetown July 8, the day of the filing deadline. ...
