Tucker Carlson on “instant justice” for Youth Pastors

“What you’re seeing is a society that hates children,” Carlson said on his show Monday.

“You would have to hate children in order to allow them to spend time with Youth Pastors. Because being exposed to Youth Pastors screws them up for life. Ask anyone to whom it has happened, period,” he said. “No one should put up with this. No parent should put up with this for one second, no matter what the law says. Your duty, your moral duty, is to defend your children. This is an attack on your children and you should fight back.”

Carlson suggested that in a “healthy” country “with an intact social fabric, neighborhood dads would give out instant justice to any Youth Pastor who even thought about spending time with their kids.”

Carlson was obviously not talking about Youth Pastors, but this very lightly edited version of what he said is more accurate and at least partly grounded in reality.

Being a Delaware Republican must feel like being a Dallas Cowboys fan.  Your ownership is scum, you have to live with knowing that you suck, you just know you will lose in some novel and embarrassing fashion, and in the meantime you need to hang around with the worst people.  Like this fucking guy:

Join the Sussex County Republican Women’s Club at their Wednesday meeting featuring guest speaker Climatologist David Legates. More information is available at https://www.scrwc.net/club-meetings

George Santos and REV – Both Lula Supporters

A Brazilian drag artist who says she knew George Santos when he dressed in drag in Brazil remembers the congressman during his younger years as a supporter of the country’s progressive president, not as the ultra-conservative politician he says he is now.

The artist Eula Rochard made headlines for circulating a photo she says is of Santos dressed in a red dress.

But in an interview with Insider, she said what’s puzzling to her is how Santos went from backing left-wing president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, known as “Lula,” to his current political incarnation.

“Low unemployment” is “bad” for the “economy”.  And now I’m outta scare quotes for the month.

BLS: Alaska and Pennsylvania Set New Record Series Low Unemployment rates in December

From the BLS: Regional and State Employment and Unemployment Summary

Unemployment rates were higher in December in 7 states, lower in 5 states, and stable in 38 states and the District of Columbia, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Thirty-five states and the District had jobless rate decreases from a year earlier, 4 states had increases, and 11 states had little change.

Utah had the lowest jobless rate in December, 2.2 percent. The next lowest rates were in North Dakota and South Dakota, 2.3 percent each. The rates in Alaska (4.3 percent) and Pennsylvania (3.9 percent) set new series lows. (All state series begin in 1976.) Nevada had the highest unemployment rate, 5.2 percent.

Can we please just stop using the terms “Classified” and “Top Secret”?    They appear to mean nothing.

A lawyer for former Vice President Mike Pence discovered about a dozen documents marked as classified at Pence’s Indiana home last week, and he has turned those classified records over to the FBI, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

The FBI and the Justice Department’s National Security Division have launched a review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence’s house in Indiana.

Cold War era Doomsday Clock Guys – “We’re still here.”

‘Doomsday Clock’ moves closer to midnight amid Ukraine war

A group of scientists and security experts have moved their “Doomsday Clock” to 90 seconds to midnight, their most pessimistic prognosis yet. They published their statement in Russian and Ukrainian for the first time.

The time on the clock was moved to 90 seconds to midnight for 2023. Midnight is supposed to symbolize the end of humanity.

Florida teachers told to remove books from classroom libraries or risk felony prosecution

Teachers in Manatee County, Florida, are being told to make their classroom libraries — and any other “unvetted” book — inaccessible to students, or risk felony prosecution. The new policy is part of an effort to comply with new laws and regulations championed by Governor Ron DeSantis (R). It is based on the premise, promoted by right-wing advocacy groups, that teachers and librarians are using books to “groom” students or indoctrinate them with leftist ideologies.

Delaware Democrat introducing DC statehood bill in Senate

Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) on Monday announced he’s reintroducing a bill to grant statehood to the nation’s capital.

“The rumors are true! I’m introducing the #DCStatehood bill in the Senate this week,” Carper wrote on Twitter.

Carper has led previous efforts to get the bill through in the Senate in partnership with the District of Columbia’s nonvoting delegate to the U.S. House, Eleanor Holmes Norton (D), whose name on Twitter is Eleanor “#DCStatehood” Holmes Norton.

OK, but I still mostly blame Hillary Clinton for Trump

Charles McGonigal, the former head of the Counterintelligence Division of the New York FBI office has been arrested for helping Oleg Deripaska avoid US sanctions on Russia. He was head of the division at the time Donald Trump was trying to get Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s account.

Orlando Police Characterize Shooting at LGBTQ+ Bar as “Vandalism”

After the windows of an Orlando, Fla., LGBTQ+ bar were shot out Wednesday evening, police are characterizing the crime as a bias-motivated attack on the LGBTQ+ business.

District Dive, located in Orlando’s Milk District, posted security video to its Facebook page of a man shooting out windows in the Southern Nights complex. The complex is home to several queer establishments, including District Dive, Southern Craft, and the Southern Nights nightclub. The post on District Dive’s page said the complex “was a target of a suspected hate crime.”

“Please stay safe Orlando,” the company wrote.

The Orlando Police department distributed the video across its own social media channels.

“The Orlando Police Department does not tolerate criminal behavior of any kind,” said Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith in a statement. “Whoever committed this brazen vandalism against our city’s LGBTQ+ businesses will be held accountable.”

I listened to Delaware House & Senate Republicans “reaction” to the State Address by Governor Carney so you don’t have to

Hocker opened up slurring through some nonsense that I couldn’t really make out.  Is he drunk or having a stroke?  If it’s a stoke, I don’t want to make too much fun of him. I’m decent that way.

Pettyjohn agrees with Carney on everything, but wants Delaware to shove money into the bank accounts of multi-national companies even faster and with even less oversight.  Turning Delaware into the anti-regulation paradise “just like Texas” appears to be  Pettyjohn’s obsession.  (His campaign for Gov tag line?  Spoiler Alert: It is going to be tough to run to the right of Bethany Hall Long on the issue of making the state an even bigger corporate patsy.)

Ramone wants to know what you, the typical Delawarean, want him to do while in office.  Beyond perhaps asking a min-wage trainee lifeguard, “What are signs someone is having a stroke?”   I got the impression that Ramone did’t listen to the address, or prep for this video at all.   Old “Phone it in Ramone” strikes again!

Yearick closed it out with some bullshit GOP talking points about how tax money is still the people’s(!) money even when they turn it over to the state, and the state uses it to provide essential services.  Just like when you buy something at WALMART.  That’s still YOUR money, no matter what the gol’ dang Walton family says!   So, Lukas Walton!! Stop spending MY money on whores & drinks for Chris Coons at Davos, you motherfucker!!

Mike – Next time if you think Hocker might be stroking out remember: F.A.S.T

Face: Smile and see if one side of the face droops.

Arms: Raise both arms. Does one arm drop down?

Speech: Say a short phrase and check for slurred or strange speech.

Time: If the answer to any of these is yes, call 911 right away and write down the time when symptoms started.

Not counting Brian Pettyjohn’s google search history, is there anything as disgusting as Davos?

No.

That was easy.  Also, I wonder if Coons paid the $250,000 to attend or if that was picked up by some CEO/Coons fanboy?   Also easy.

Davos Attendees Davos the Davos of Davos and Davos more Davos

…the roster of Davos attendees is a veritable OZY Fest poster of the evil, the insufferable, and the extraordinarily dull. Semafor reporters spotted Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, fresh off a set of major layoffs, schmoozing with former GOP Rep. Paul Ryan at a place called Goals House, run by conservative PR guy Matthew Freud, who once fathered and hid a secret child from his then wife, one of Rupert Murdoch’s daughters. They also clocked Sen. Kyrsten Sinema—who, in a possible biblical reference, dressed in sheep’s clothing—at a party hosted by Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as White House comms director under Donald Trump. For some reason, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was at Davos, too, and attended “Korea Night.” I would take great pains to avoid any place where I might even accidentally run into these people. Can you imagine spending hundreds of thousands of dollars ($250,000) for the privilege of meeting them?

Attendees reportedly also socialize in private chat groups on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal, including one called “Burning Man at Davos.” I had never considered the potential intersection of these two events, or what kinds of individuals might lie therein, but the prospect of encountering them makes me want to thrust my head into a wood chipper.

For Republicans, this is no different than forcing a 14 year old rape victim to have a baby, or smoking cigars and blowing the smoke in the face of Nancy Pelosi.  It’s all for the LOLz.

DeSantis Assholery for Assholery’s Sake

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is facing criticism after his administration rejected an Advanced Placement African American Studies course from being taught in Florida schools, the latest curriculum-related action by the governor to draw fierce backlash.

The DeSantis administration made the move earlier this month, when it sent a letter to the College Board Florida Partnership arguing that “the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” The letter didn’t name which law the course purportedly violated, and the state’s Department of Education did not clarify that matter when asked by The Hill.

Similar to what happened in Middletown De last year except in Middletown it was the Taco Bell that everyone quit en mass, not the town government.

Who could have predicted?  Republican Paradise Turning into Mogadishu  Style Hell Hole

A staffing shortage and mass resignation has forced the shutdown of Godley City Hall. On Thursday, a series of white signs hung on the municipal building’s doors on West Railroad Avenue. One cites the closure as a result of a staffing shortage. Another requests packages be taken to the fire department across the street. The third tells residents with water and sewer emergencies to contact the police department, which could get in touch of the public works department. It lists three places to file complaints: the police department, the Attorney General’s Office and the Secretary of State.

Davos Epilogue

Ian Bremmer thought Coons was the Chancellor of Germany.  Coons did nothing to disabused Bremmer of that thought.  They danced into the night and were married in a secret ceremony prior to consummating  the relationship as dawn broke, golden, crisp and clear, over the Alps.

Here is the picture of Scholz.

More machine guns in circulation and fewer regulations about who can own them would probably fix this

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (AP) — Law enforcement officials swarmed and entered a white van Sunday afternoon that officials suspect was driven by a gunman who opened fire on a Southern California ballroom dance studio, killing 10 people and wounding 10 more.

Police surrounded the van with tactical vehicles and bomb squad trucks for hours before going in. A person’s body appeared to be slumped over the wheel, but authorities did not immediately identify the person in the van….

The manhunt came after a gunman killed 10 people at a ballroom dance studio late Saturday amid Lunar New Years celebrations in the predominantly Asian American community of Monterey Park. He likely tried and failed to target a second dance hall, authorities said.

New Highlands Bunker Episode w/ Me & El Som

You should listen to this if you’ve got a drive that is about an hour and 15minutes long or you are any of these potential Governor candidates:  Chris Coons, Brian Townsend, Pete Schwartzkopf (SP?), Frank Burns, Mike Ramone, Andria Bennet, Larry Mitchell, Lumpy Carson, Estelle Parker Selby, Dorsey Walker, Bill Bush, Val Longhurst, Stephanie T Bolden, Stephanie Hansen, James Taylor, Charles “Bud” Freel, Namdi, Deb Heffernan, Shané Darby, Jack Markell, Bethany Hall Long, Ruth Anne Miner, Harriet Windsor, Mike Smith, Kim Williams, Steve Newton, Sarah McBride, Tom Carper, James Nolan, Dee Durham, Dave Carter, Bobby Bird, Becca Cotto, Sophie Phillips, Paul Baumbach, Lydia York,…  Oh fuck it… I was going to name check everyone mentioned but I can’t.  Sorry to Matt Marshall and Alexander Snyder-Mackler, you guys are going to have to just listen to see if we talk about you.

DelawareLiberal writers Steve and Jason join Rob in the bunker to talk about the first couple weeks of the new legislative session, what the future looks like for the House and the governor’s seat, and a new campaign to get Rob on Mic’d Up with Mike Smith.

Show Notes:

Why can’t “Q” start lumping Coons in with all the world’s villains?

Coons seems like he is actively trying to get on the “Q” list of worldwide super-villains.  It would certainly make more sense (knowing “making sense” rates dead last on any list of “Q” concerns) to drop “Lappy” or “the Rothchilds” and make Coons the most vile Hitler since the actual Hitler.

DAVOS, Switzerland – U.S. lawmakers quietly took part in a private ritzy lunch atop the World Economic Forum on Monday featuring dozens of influential business leaders, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter.

Lawmakers in attendance included members of the U.S. congressional delegation taking part in the annual confab for the elite and wealthy in Davos, including Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., Chris Coons, D-Del., Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz. and a few members of the House of Representatives, these people explained. Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also attended the event, one of the people said.

Like the Outlandish Lies of Santos, McCarthy’s Outlandish Promises Keep Surfacing

I thought I had heard about all the wacky-ass shit McCarthy promised to the nutbag caucus, but I hand’t heard about the 30% national sales tax.

As part of his deal to become House speaker, Kevin McCarthy reportedly promised his party’s conservative hardliners a vote on legislation that would scrap the entire American tax code and replace it with a jumbo-sized national sales tax.

The assurance got relatively little attention at the time, drowned out by the many other concessions McCarthy made to win his gavel. But with Democrats already attacking the proposal, some conservatives see it as a political headache in the making.

The idea of a “fair tax” that would replace our current IRS code with a single sales tax was popularized on conservative talk radio in the late 1990s. It has kicked around Washington ever since, popping up in the occasional presidential platform, but never received a vote.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Documents show what led to the arrest of the failed Republican candidate, Solomon Peña, who is accused of organizing multiple shootings against Democratic lawmakers in Albuquerque.

Criminal complaints and arrest documents reveal Peña paid four men $500 each for the drive-by shootings. Albuquerque police say at least four Democratic lawmakers’ homes were shot up.

It is nice to see Democrats calling Republicans on their bullshit for once

Of course it only takes a couple of Dems in search of bipartisan glory (like Manchin or Coons for example) to overturn the debt ceiling chessboard.

WHAT ABOUT MAH FREEDOM?!?!

Alt Headline 1: What’s the point of having a gun if you can’t threaten/shoot people with it?

Alt Headline 2: Lewes man charged after pulling gun on woman

Police were called at 11:17 p.m. to a home in the 20000 block of Plantation Road for a report of shots fired; they learned that Timothy Littleton, 33, had argued with a woman, 37, at the home before he took out a handgun and pointed it at her, said Sr. Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police. There were three children present inside the residence during the incident, he said.

Water ??!? Pfft…we’ll live off bile and memories of Ronald Reagan

Here is the thing, they could only build these houses in Rio Verde (ironically “Green River”) by exploiting a loophole which meant having watered delivered (rather than being connected by pipes to some water supply).  Scottsdale was happy to send those trucks to fill everyone’s tank each month.  …up until they didn’t have enough water for Scottsdale proper.   Anyway, to be pedantic, it is not really accurate to say that water was “turned off”.

Also, “Are these houses here because they are exploiting a loophole?” is a question people who buy houses in the desert should probably ask prior to taking on that mortgage.

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Joe McCue thought he’d found a desert paradise when he bought one of the new stucco homes springing up in the granite foothills of Rio Verde, Arizona. There were good schools, mountain views, and back door cactus-studded trails.

Then the water was turned off.

Earlier this month, the community’s longtime water utility, the neighboring city of Scottsdale, turned off the faucet to the Rio Verde Foothills, blaming a crushing drought threatening the West’s future. Scottsdale said it needed to focus on conserving water for its own residents and could no longer sell water to about 500 to 700 homes — or about 1,000 people. That meant the unincorporated bevy of $500,000 stucco homes, mansions and horse ranches outside of Scottsdale’s borders would have to fend for themselves and buy water from other suppliers — if homeowners could find them and afford it, much higher ones to pay prices.

Knowing that the phrases “We Fuck Up Social Security!”  & “Self-Imposed Government Shutdown Chaos” & “Economic Collapse Caused by GOP Stupidity” didn’t do well in focus groups, the house GOP has another zippy new word for that bundle of policies –prioritization.

Republican lawmakers on Sunday renewed calls for spending concessions from Democrats as a contingency to raising the federal government’s borrowing limit, setting up another round of brinkmanship with the U.S.’s credit rating on the line.

House Republicans have a plan if an agreement can’t be reached, the Washington Post reported. That is to tell the Treasury and the Biden administration to prioritize spending by making only the most critical payments, such as interest on the national debt, as well as Social Security, Medicare,…

Remember when I said that the New York State Democratic Party needed to be dissolved and the office furniture auctioned off?
