I was sitting down to write this Open Thread and I just couldn't. The news is too depressing. Biden seems to be folding his hand on the Infrastructure Bill. Carper is being Carper, giving Republicans cover for their ongoing malfeasance. Republican nuts are being Republican nuts. And we are quickly approaching the moment when Republicans nuts are pushing us to the point when political sectarian violence is going to be inevitable. It is all too much. So I had an Aperol Spritz and clicked over to the Arden Concert Gild.

Coons Agrees with GOP That 1/6 Commission Should Investigate ANTIFA?

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) stated that "in the interest of balance" he would pursue a bipartisan commission to investigate the 1/6 attack on the Capitol and investigate the ANTIFA riots which gripped Washington last Summer. "I agree with the Minority Leader. We have an opportunity to join with our good friends in the Republican Party and address the looting instigated by ANTIFA and other radical leftists."
Coons didn't actually say any of that. He does favor a bipartisan commission though, and Spokesperson for the Super Secret Bipartisan Caucus, Susan Collins, said the commission must investigate all domestic terrorism - so it isn't exactly outlandish to think that this sort of statement is possible.

"Socialism" is now only a bad word among Republicans and so-called "moderate" Democrats who pay entirely too much attention to what Republicans think. Turns out Van Morrison is a antisemitic dick. Also, turns out, a Space Force lieutenant colonel is a Trumper dick. But first, the dull, ever present pain of knowing that the GOP only cares about fucking shit up.

Having joined my RD, I'm getting mail from people running for Chair and Vice-Chair of the Delaware Democratic Party. Elizabeth Maron is running for a full term as State Chair. I think she might be MUCH to timid to be the Chair right now. The 9th endorsed Debbie Harrington for Vice-Chair, and office that Coby Owens is also competing for.   I know there are others.   Who are they?   Who are you supporting? Right now I would call myself persuadable.

One one side you have the Trumpers; Witzke and all of the the downstate GOP, Republican Primary voters, Republican general election voters, campaign donors and the right wing media complex. On the other side you have the Republicans who try to pretend that they aren't Republicans; Kevin Hensley, Mike Ramone, Chris Coons. You can see the fallacious thinking at work here, right? There is no opposition to the Trumpers. There is no GOP civil war in Delaware or anywhere. It is a fucking joke concocted (like this headline) for clicks and page views. Hensley, Ramone and Coons will lay the fuck down and do what ever Trump tells them to do. So while it is fun to make pretend that the GOP is facing a split, I know DL readers are smarter enough to see through the hype.
