FUCK YEAH! Let’s go Delaware, Flush Coons!

Let’s go Delaware, Keep the momentum Rolling & flush Coons this September!

ST. LOUIS — Cori Bush, a progressive activist and a leader of the swelling protest movement for racial justice, toppled Representative William Lacy Clay Jr. of Missouri in a Democratic primary on Tuesday, notching the latest in a stunning string of upsets against the party establishment.

Ms. Bush, 44, had captured nearly 49 percent of the vote by late Tuesday evening compared with 45.5 percent for Mr. Clay, according to The Associated Press. She had tried and failed to unseat Mr. Clay in 2018, but this year rode a surge in support for more liberal, confrontational politics within the Democratic Party amid the coronavirus pandemic and the national outcry over festering racial inequities.

Song of the Day 8/5: Curtis Mayfield, “Move On Up”

I’ve seen a lot of stories about musicians upset over candidates using their music without permission; Neil Young has filed suit against the Trump campaign over it. There’s a simple solution for politicians: If you’re not a dick, they’ll probably let you use it, which is why the offenders are almost always Republicans, whose dickish […]

$10 million for “training and certificate programs” HUZZAH!

I guess we could use a few more electricians but this sounds so vague and scammy to me.

What are the specific skills being taught? Where are the specific businesses that are so eager to hire these retrained folks? Until I get specifics I gotta think that this is a jobs program for Nicole Poore’s tax accountant.

Obama calls for end of ‘Jim Crow relic’ filibuster – While Coons vows to join with GOP Buddies to preserve the filibuster

Obama yesterday:

Former President Barack Obama on Thursday called for the elimination of the Senate’s filibuster rule if it is used to block sweeping voting reforms, labeling the chamber’s long-held 60-vote threshold a “Jim Crow relic.”

Delivering a eulogy at the funeral of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), Obama implored politicians to go beyond paying lip service to the civil rights icon and urged leaders to continue Lewis’ life‘s work by pushing for reforms. The best way to honor Lewis, the former president said, would be to pass the recently introduced voting rights act named in his honor.

Meanwhile, Coons joins with white supremacists buddies in the GOP and vows to keep the filibuster:

I’m not an economist, but rushing to “open the economy” during a pandemic seemed like a terrible idea to me.

Hopelessly Naive Dems

Hopelessly Naive Dems

Trump said that the election in November will be the most “fraudulent election in history.” He has also recently said that he will not accept results of the election if he finds them to be fraudulent. So, there is that.

Trump has been steadily stirring up his peeps, and readying the gloriously patriotic 35% to take part in operation Banana Republic should Biden’s cheating prevail. Very transparent.

And yet we have some hopelessly naive Dems, like DelawareDem for example, who think “norms” and/or the constitution, and/or laws or some dumb old-timey bullshit will restrain Trump even thought he has treated norms, laws and the constitution with nothing but contempt.

Song of the Day 7/30: Woody Guthrie, “All You Fascists Bound to Lose”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on July 30, 2020 1 Comment

Woody Guthrie is famous for championing the common people in the United States, but when fascism rose to power in the 1930s and World War II broke out, he extended his vision overseas. He condemned fascism not just because it was authoritarian but because it was “a highly illegitimate criminal endeavor intended to exploit the […]

Song of the Day 7/29: Johnny Cash, “Cry, Cry, Cry”

This was Johnny Cash’s first hit for Sun Records in 1955, when it was the B-side to “Hey, Porter,” the first composition he took to the studio. Unimpressed executives told him to come back with a song that Sun owner Sam Phillips would be able to sell. Cash wrote “Cry! Cry! Cry!” overnight and played […]

Song of the Day 7/28: Nick Lowe, “Nutted By Reality”

“He had been living in a different world, then he was nutted by reality,” sounds like a perfect description of Donald Trump’s 2020. It’s also appropriate for Trump since the first two verses were stolen reapportioned from the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” The track appears on Lowe’s 1978 “Jesus of Cool” LP (“Pure […]

Coons’ Heroic GOP Ass Kissing Campaign Comes up Short Once Again

Coons’ heroic GOP Ass kissing campaign continues in spite of never having swayed a single Republican vote in the Senate. Senate Republicans’ coronavirus relief package, released Monday evening, sets up new battles over health care funding as the coronavirus continues to overwhelm the country. From a smaller hospital bailout to stiffing strained Medicaid programs, the […]

Noam Chomsky on Trump: He can’t afford to lose

Filed in National by on July 27, 2020 1 Comment

Like Chomsky, I have zero faith in GOP Reps, Senators or Governors to do the right thing. NOAM CHOMSKY: Well, there are various maneuvers that theoretically they might undertake. One might be to try to throw the election to the — to refuse to accept the vote, to make sure that the Republican governors don’t […]
